They did this because people were abusing the combat xp rate and causing trouble for the grinding groups they were in by throwing grenades. Not saying it's fair or unfair, just stating the truth.

Personally, I think SOE needs to find more deeply thought, alternative solutions besides their "Ug SMASH!" mentality.
