Gooney - I would fit in your "exception" category then. Yes, I'm grinding like crazy right now before the CU hits, however, it is not to PWN people in PVP. I actually PVP very rarely. I'm doing it for two reasons, I want to RP a jedi character. I'm undecided at present on if that will be a dark or light jedi. I also want that second character slot opened, and that's where I will agree with you - once I get Padawan, I will probably spend some time developing that second toon vs. starting into the Knight grind. And finally, lets just be honest. I want a lightsaber.

I think that over time, the Jedi in game will balance out. I do agree that we will probably see a peak of new Jedi over the next few weeks as those who were grinding furiously since when the village launched finish up, but overall, I don't expect it to overwhelm the population. However, I will also agree with you that the grind itself is very boring and can lead to burn-out. Right now my goal is to unlock my last 3 branches and then have fun playing the game as I gain the xp I need vs. grinding like crazy. By then, the CU will have hit and who knows what that's going to do to everyone's template and ability to wrack up XP. After that, we may see fewer Jedi than people here fear.

Yes Im sure there are probably dozens of us.

Anyhow the point of the first post still stands even though I managed to sidetrack it a bit. There is no inherent problem with the number of folks that are gaining Jedi status now. Im not one bit worried by it.

I got no personal problem with the "Hard Core" PvP types, but I still believe that they will be the shortest lived of those that make it to Jedi. Again, there will be exceptions to that, but generallys speaking theyll reach the top, get board, then move on. So over time the population will balance out like you say.

Its star wars. Did people really want to play star wars and have no Jedi? I mean if you dont want to play a Jedi dont. If you want to be a Han Solo type character, play that. If you want to play a Greedo, play that. I don't care and I am not going to suggest to other people what kind of character for them to play. Why is that they think they should tell me what kind of character I can play. Continuity, haha! Give me a break. Do you really think that the Emporer killed all 10,000 jedi? Really? Obi-wan the one that he maybe knew the best, and the one that his Right Hand Man Vader knew best, managed to elude him for 20 years. Is it not possible that just maybe other Jedi stayed hidden? Waiting for their chance to help?

Just chiming in, I'm one of those wanting to RP a Jedi. I'll be awhile yet getting one, and I don't expect to see Knight status for a very, very, very, very long time. But I'll be a Jedi.

I started the village when it first became available but I won't be a Jedi initiate anytime soon. I am taking my time, as always, to enjoy all parts of this game.

- I'll always miss pre-CU but I still have fun.

If you grind out7.2 million FS XP (without spamming specials) like I did, then you should be Jedi.

You are quite right. When the villiage opened, it was so packed you could barely see some of the key NPC's you had to interact with. Now, no matter when I'm there, there's a handful of players at best.
The grind is tough, and hard, but there's an end in sight. That's the big difference for me vs. the hologrind. With the holos, you just never knew when. (some argue that was better and that's fine). for me, I like knowing that the goal is there, and what it takes to attain it. However, I also know that a price must be paid. I am willing to pay that price and think that Jedi will be enjoyable. But I think anyone who has gone down this path or been around the village since it opened will tell you, if they're honest, we shouldn't expect to see small armies of Jedi popping up anytime soon.

Plus, if what I read on the Jedi boards is true -- anyone who finishes and completes the Padawan trials has better go underground right away and keep their mouth shut or there will be BH's all over them.

You all have to remember that the village ws so packed in earlier phases because of holo credit. Some people only needed one or two phases to get their exit quest. Those people have already finished their part of the village they did not necessarily give up the grind. I unlocked my 6th branch last phase but am only going to convert xp so I am in and out quickly (I have begun to hate that place). Just because there is less people does not equal less people going for jedi.

OH NO! The Sky is falling!!! (again...)

Look! There's a Black Helicopter following me!!!! (again...)

So what, Those who want to spend the time grinding out their Jedis only to eventually get sick of it, sell their accounts on EBay, or just leave for WoW are more than welcome to do so.

Jedi are out there, the cat is out of the bag and there's no putting it back in. So, if Jedi is your goal, get out there and grind. If it's not go about your business. I'll say this, once CURB goes full swing this entire game is going to change over night... So keep worrying about Jedi. Yeah yeah I know... movies, canon, all that BS which means nothing in SWG. Lemme tell ya, If they like showing off their sabers you'll have plenty of happy BH's out there.

Jedi is a long hard grind. I doubt it's gonna be as bad as the fear-mongers say it is. (as usual...)

There is no peace, there is anger.
There is no fear, there is power.
There is no death, there is immortality.
There is no weakness, there is the Dark Side. I am the Heart of Darkness.
I know no fear, but rather I instil it in my enemies. I am the destroyer of worlds.
I know the power of the Dark Side. I am the fire of hate.
All the Universe bows before me, I pledge myself to the Darkness.
For I have found true life, in the death of the light.

Actually, the sky did fall on Dantooine, last night (12/21/2004, about 7:45pm EST).

5-6 Imperial Dark Jedi Knights (and other support personnel, at least one Toxicologist), ambushed 5-6 Rebel Jedi Knights in the Mining Outpost on Dantooine, on Naritus server.

Force Lightning...Saber Throws...Knockdowns...DoTs...Force Heals...Single-Handed Blades...Two-Handed Sabers...Double-Bladed Sabers...carnage, total and utter CARNAGE...

for about 5-10 minutes...then all was quiet.......................................the Empire won.

Now if I was a new player I would be in total shock of that scene. I was amazed at how awesome the battle looked! I actually thought I was going to get hit by the lighting that was litterally branching between players all around me!

It was very cool, even though 'during this time-line' there aren't supposed to be very many Jedi, the chances of 5 let alone 10-12 Jedi in the same location, and all KNIGHTS....who cares, it looked COOL!

There's no turning back...Jedi are a profession in the game like any other, with problems and issues and bugs, and people who want to play one, and others who don't.

Are there too many? Perhaps. Will there be more? Definitely!

Issue is - should the timeline change? Should the number of Jedi per server be capped? How can that be done without pissing someone off? (BH's getting missions doesn't lower the number, just curbs the 'visibility' of them, a little, till they PvP).

As the Jedi population increases, Is the game changing for the better/worse or at all?
