Rumors are saying Publish 19 will introduce a couple of new checkboxes into character creation.

You simply check whether or not you want to be FS or Jedi and log in.

oh god, i can hear the vet cries already.......

anyway,

6 months? 3 weeks per phase, 6 phases.....18 weeks.....4 weeks in a month......its more like 4.5 months you know since 6*4=24 weeks, and since you just have to unlock the last branch at the start of the last phase you could do it in 4 months.

no, it doesnt im pretty positive of this, i mean...it can..but ... there are other ways to do it, for example...did you know that MID has no timer anywhere?

The bottom line is you still have to wait on phases even w/ all xp banked. Each phase is 3 weeks, there are 6 phases(for the trees needed, and usualy you have to do some phases more than once because u dont want skills from 6 consecutive phases), so in theory its a 18 week period at least. With 4 weeks being in a month, there you have the 6 month statement. If, however, someone DID get a unlock from 6 consecutive phases, since you would only have to unlock on your 6th phase, which wouldnt have to take the whole phase 2 do, you could get it done in 5 months and a day or two.

i calculated 4.5 months... 6 phases... thats 18 months

18/4 = 4.5

only needs to take 4 1/2 atmost 3 1/4if you hit phase right like I did so nya

end of phase 4x3 week +start of phase equals about 3months and 2 days best case but with delays prob 3 and a 1/4

I personally think that any game that requires you to be bored, and grind ALOT in order to accomplish something has the wrong idea.

What was the best MMORPG of all time? Ultima Online, why? because there wasnt a grind. you could become good enough to do anything you wanted within a few days of play (basically just learning how to play). Games are too reliant on grinding lvls nowerdays to realise where the true fun in MMORPG gaming really lies..

I agree that Jedi should be difficult to unlock, and difficult to play.. but there ARE other ways to accomplish difficulty aside from just making it a huge, boring , slow grind that not everyone has time, or can be bothered to do! Why not actually make it a 'challenge' to play as a Jedi? Sure i know its not the easiest class to play, what with all the BH's hunting you down etc... but, theres no actual skill in playing, is there? its not dependent on how skillful the player is with they're character, its dependent on who has the 'best' character and who has wasted the most time becomming the best!

Having said all that, though, I do realise none of this will happen to SWG, infact none of this wil happen in any MMORPG again... the genre of 'skillful' MMORPGS is long dead, now its all lvl lvl lvl, grind grind grind, camp camp camp.

interesting idea, but thats kinda dumb since the village is basically all about patience and teaches you some jedi skills you'll need to know in the future...

"The Village of Aurilia was formed on the planet Dathomir by a small group of like-minded Force sensitive refugees who had, for one reason or another, abandoned their old lives. Some of them were hunted by agents of the Empire, their strange knack for piloting, healing, or combat making them dangerous to the Emperor, and the rumors of a Sith Lord who held a high power amongst the Imperials."

Ok, do we see the problem here? No? Judging by from the story of the village, it sounds like theirenemies of the Empire, so why would they train Imperials(especialy imperials who have gotten the highest faction rank they can?) Wouldnt it be a danger to the existence of the village?(By making their enemies stronger)As you can see, the story the Devs created, and how it works in game, doesnt make sense.

But besides the contradiction of why they would train Imperials(when the Empire is their enemy), and therefore make their enemy even stronger, here is another thought: If there are Jedi Temples(enclaves) in existence, why would someone go be trained by a group of only force sensitive refugees, when they could be taught by a real Jedi? Here is my suggestion for the new way to become a Jedi:

After you have completed all the theme parks, gotten all the badges, and are finaly glowy, you are visted by the 'old man', who is really a Jedi Knight(light or dark, depending on you), who gives you a force crystal as a test to see if you are worthy of training. The Sith then attack you, and you loot a datapad. But instead of the datapad giving you the wp to a village on Dathomir, it gives you a wp to the Jedi Temple(enclave) if your a rebel, or the Dark Jedi Temple(enclave) if your an Imperial.(And you must be either rebel or imperial)

Now, you make your way to the Jedi Temple(which one depending on your faction), and you now progress through a theme park series of quests, much like Jabba's, except much longer, and are trained by Jedi NPCs when you have the appropriate amount of xp. Also, the more quests you unlock, like the other theme parks, the futher and further you can advance into the Jedi Temple. When your a padawan, you would be trained by Knight NPCs, and when a Knight you would be trained(or get missions)by Master NPCs.

Additionaly: The current enclaves can only be entered if you are a Knight. Why? Well, its basicaly the only reward for being a Knight, and being a Knight in itself comes with a price(of being always overt). The new reward, as it were, for being a Knight, would be the ability to access a terminal within the Jedi temple that allows you to take missions on Jedi of the opposite faction, and hunt them down in a BH-like style. Much the way Darth Maul hunted down Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, this would now create a new and intense war between the Dark side and the Light side of the Force, which there should be already but is not. Killing your opponent would gain your xp in the FRS, and you would be able to advance in this manner.

So, concluding, to all those who say "there arent supposed to be Jedi at this time" in response to the idea of training at the enclave, go ahead and be quiet, because your trying to become one yourself, so dont be a hypocrite. The fact of the matter is, there ARE Jedi Temples(enclaves) in the game, and if your going to be trained asa Jedi, you should be trained at the temple, not at a village of refugees. A new system, like the one described above, would be more fun and immersive(training at the Jedi temple by real Jedi NPCs), as well as make more sense then why the village would train their own enemies, as well as start an intense war between the dark side of the force and the light side, which would be an all around more entertaining experience. Just some thoghts.

PS: Im basicaly done with the village, all xp banked, just have 2 wait on phases now, but that doesnt mean the experience could be better for future players.

Since we are getting technical, there would be no Imperial Jedi, even if of the Dark Side, the Emperor would see it as a threat to his power. So now we are telling all Imperials that they can not be Jedi at all.

Not so. Why? Because the EMPIRE doesnt run the Dark Jedi Enclave, the Dark Jedi do. They can continue to train all the Dark Jedi they want. Now, if you want to say the Empire should attack Dark Jedi like light Jedi, thats a completely different subject.

Not exactly. There could be dark jedi, but not Sith apprentices (ie: there should be no force lightning in the game) - note that Ventress, Dooku's apprentice in the clone wars was a dark jedi, although he kept her from learning any significant powers of the Sith.

I like the general concept and it is similar to an idea I had for expanding the content and training.

Not only should the Jedi training be quest based all the way up (I envisage a more complicated system like the pilot training), but the light Jedi should always be on the move. If there was a single villiage for training, eventually the empire would just bombard the planet until it was a big hole in the ground. The dark Jedi are, however, in power and thus could be trained from a stationary 'base'.

For Light Jedi, training of skill boxes would be handled by NPCs Jedi across the galaxy - starting at the temples, as described above. However, the Light Jedi should be serving the rebellion and thus I would suggest they get missions from Rebellion characters, perhaps as the following:

Tier 1 leveling - Jedi mission terminals
Tier 2 leveling - Leia missions
Tier 3 leveling - Mon Mothma missions
Tier 4 and knight missions - how about spirit of Obi-wan missions from ben's old place
- only see him if a Jedi; light jedi get missions, dark jedi get a lecture

NOTE: The only Light Jedi master in the SW universe in this time period is Yoda, who has gone into exhile and essentially disappeared from the universe until approx. 2 years from the SWG time. However, I don't believe it would be a problem for other Jedi Knights to train new Jedi knights (It ends up being what Luke does anyway).

For Dark Jedi - and this should be obvious - the Emperor's retreat. Note that Vader and the Emperor are not training new Sith but only and army of dark force users that would not be strong enough to challenge them. Missions, however, could come from various sources - including the force-sensitive NightSisters.

Tier 1 leveling - Jedi mission terminals in Emperor's retreat
Tier 2 leveling - Night Sister missions
Tier 3 leveling - Vader missions
Tier 4 and knight missions - Emperor missions

I also believe that, at the higher levels, there should be missions to kill a certain number of enemy PC Jedi (ideally, you should not get credit for killing the same Jedi multiple times - can you say exploit?)

Why would you want to change it.. It was changed once and that screwed a lot of people, you wna screw everyone else too? Best thing is to make it.. and keep it.. no changes.. Then everyone get a fairshot at it.
