My current template is TKM, MCH, and Medic 2/x/4/4. The Creature Handling skills lets me pull out some nice pets to take some of the beating and add some damage,the medic skills allow for nice heals if I get into trouble. With this template I get4 forms of xp for everything I kill....Unarmed Combat xp, combat xp, CH xp, and Scouting xp for skinning the hides. As I progress, I've been droppingmy medic skills, but in order to keep the ability to heal damage, I will soon have to start dropping my CH skills.

Right, I opted for Master 2 hand saber and not the others. I instead focused on the force powers, such as lightning, choke, the healing powers, the resist and defenses. These seem to be most valuable to a jedi. Being mastered in all the branches of LS is not the only part of Jedi. Being able to full heal my HAM when an enemy just thought they nearly had me beat, is not only useful, it is a psychological blow.
I really like the powers to control and charm pets. I just dont have the points to obtain it.

i was looking at a skill point calculator i have earlier and it was sooo hard trying to decide what to be. like you, i was tempted by the force powers, even though they apparently arent that good to have. i want to have all the skills 
might have to become an uber sploiter and get loads of skill points somehow. then i will be UNSTOPPABLE!!! mwahahahahahaha

your unlock is a completely new character. Your main character becomes the padawan.
