For the most part you are correct, most of those that did this one did it for the reward not the branch. The branch although you can notice a difference isnt really needed.

Yes, yes it does work. I've looted a lot of good loot andhundreds of thousandsof credits off NPC's and im only at Luck II

There ya go. Luck does work..for credits Theloot though is random.

I unlocked Luck last time around but have yet to train up the tree and I'm still conflicted whether or not I want it. It seems the one certain with Luck is that you get more credits. I'm curious... How much more? Also, does it increase the loot credits in space?
