I kinda wonder of this is has something to do with the SWG Starter Kit that's comming out. I've wondered if SOE would at one point just make Jedi a starter profession. There are more and more people that are getting SWG just for Jedi. At some point, they are going to either start advertising the 18 week wait or just retool the entire thing (again).
Since Tiggs originaly called the SWG Starter Kit's listing on Amazon.com an "error" and had them remove it, it's poped up on more then a few other sites with different descriptions and is now back up on Amazon.
There's something comming and they are just not bothering to let any of us know about it yet.
They would never make Jedi a starting profession. That would cripple the game as we know it, and I say this even though I do not have a Jedi yet.
True, it would derail what a ton of players have worked towards. But, look at SOE's track record and think if how many more accounts the would stand to pick up...
AGreed, look at all the veterans that have stuck around that have Jedi. Imagine the slap in the face it would be to suddenly have Jedi a starting profession. Most are just waiting around for the FRS as it is.
On a side note, I think it's a common misconception that SOE would gain taht many new accounts. I am sure some out there want a Jedi in SWG. However, once logging in to a Jedi that is on par with every other profession out there they would be very disappointed. I think the Jedi fever that has gone through MMO fans was becasue Jedi was an alpha class in SWG. Sure, it was a tough grind but the payout at the end was power. Putting Jedi on par with everone else by making it a starting profession would leave a lot of people disapoointed. I don't see them making big money off that move.
It's all in the perception really...
Like someone else had posted, those are not long term accounts. At least I don't think so. Someone comes and tries the game out because they can swing a saber. They don't like it they cancel. Think about all those preCU Jedi and the investment of time they have made to their character and game. It is a little harder to walk away from something like that than walk away from a character you can create at the 'Chose Profession' screen.
It's all in the perception really...
If anyone has ever seen a SW movie and liked it, present them with the ability to swing a lightsaber in a game and they WILL buy it. Now, let those same people come and buy into this game where they can be a Jedi from the start and are just front loaded with abilities and you will have the suckers eating out of your hands.
I've seen this done in a ton of pen and paper RPG's. The have a new class in a book that is total crap yet everyone and thier mother wants to be one because it gets a ton of cool powers at the entry levels. Once you really get into the class/profession, you find out that it's not all that grand but now you are stuck with it. I would expect them to front load Jedi if it becomes a starter profession. Maybe they get +500 health at CL 1. Maybe they get a ton of cool powers at low levels. Something will have to be done though because they will need something along those lines to keep them from becoming the norm.
Here's the description of the SWG Starter Kit as it appears on Amazon.com...
Features:
- Choose the light or the dark side of the Force based on your characters actions as you progress through the story
- For 1 player
- Sequel to the award-winning role-playing game
- All-new Force powers, weapons, locations, characters and classes
- Cameo appearances from memorable characters of the first game
Sounds like an all new game to me....

It is a bug. Give them time they will fix it.
They said no prem/flawless pearl drops was a bug too a few months ago. about 1 month ago they admitted to "breaking" them on purpose.
Keep that in mind, that's all i'm saying. 7-8 months since the FRS. Can't find anything above a GOOD quality crystal/pearl now (they nerfed the cl111's on dant with Mustafar.)
Said they were working on a smuggler revamp for 2 years. Then admitted a few months ago that it was canned.
Keep it in mind.

Keep that in mind, that's all i'm saying. 7-8 months since the FRS. Try just about 6 months. FRS was turned off when the CU went live. That happened in the beginning of May. Can't find anything above a GOOD quality crystal/pearl now (they nerfed the cl111's on dant with Mustafar.)
Said they were working on a smuggler revamp for 2 years. Then admitted a few months ago that it was canned. Also, from what I can find no one has "admitted" anything. Still more posts about wait and see, still working on it from Tiggs, JustG and Julio.
Keep it in mind.

Many things are being worked on...like the next expansions....The force ranking system.....
manythings have been being worked on for a year or more. So all new players need to be aware of this.
I would have to agree. I think the expansion pack will bring in some new customers and as such, they have the right to know that the path to Jedi is currently broken. I have not seen *anywhere* any sort of acknowledgement by the Dev's that this is a bug.
