i went to jabbas palace where i got my first old man visit, i waited for 3 hours and got no sign, so decided to head to player citys.
im guessing its just a random time so tech i would just log off and log back on every 2 hours just to see if the old man decides to come in the first 10 misn of logging back on.

it did this with my mate, ask someone for all the shrine waypoints and go to the closest shine to where you killed him.

Got my first visit from the old man 48 hours after being glowy.
2nd visit from him was about 11 hours after getting branch #6.
Both times I was in combat. Once on Corellia, 2nd time on Dantooine.

About 24 hours for me from 6th branch to visit. Probably about 18 hours or so, altogether, offline between the two. Then he came within 15 minutes of logging on this morning.

I finished my 6th branch and trained all my boxes (saved up xp) last night (12-21-04). I follow a friends advice that was a jedi already. He said log off and log on 12 times with about a 5-10 min break inbetween each log off. Also go to 2 player cities. I did this and still no old man (2 hours after unlock). So I went to bed (midnight)and figured I'd see the old man in the morning. Woke up, about 7:00am and called work to tell them I was feeling alitte under the weather. (You got to love sick days). So I logged in about 9:00am after doing some stuff around the house here. Still no old man. So I start doing some cleaning around the houses we have ingame. You know delate this, move that. 20 mins into that and with the help of my overhead map I spotted a white dot near me. There's that "Depends" spokesman. Got my WP to Mel and now I'm just wait for my guildies to log on once they get home from work. So overall I'd say it took about 11 hours. I do think the logging in and off and moving around help speed things up.
