Ok, I've been playing this game for about 2 years. I don't play a lot as I have other things to do, and if things continue as they are, I won't be playing at all. WHAT AM I MISSING. I'm assuming there is some trick or something that I've missed with the CU. I've read all these posts about how crazy it is that a new player can get to level 80 in a week, ect. Well, I don't find that to be quite true. I'm leve 46, and unable to do anything. The color coding seems to be nothing more that adding a touch of color to the screen. I can kill a green target most of the time, but usually just barely. Blue, nope, never. I have BH 3434. I wanted to start gaining some onehanded skills, NOPE nothing that I can hope to beat with a one handed skill gives me more that 1 point. Sorry SOE, not going to kill 50,000 creatures for a freakin new skill. With my gun type weapons, the best I can kill gives me 350 or so points with 32 combat points. I would like to know exactly how I'm supposed to get enough combat points to master BH. Kill 2934832948732987 creatures for 32 points a piece? Sorry, I won't live that long. I recently became force sensitve, and read the post here about killing the sith guys. It said they were very east, well not for me. They were purple and I was dead before I even knew they were there. So now I have to wait for the old guy again, and then be killed again, or have a posse of guys follow me around until the sith guys show up again? This is rediculous. When CU first came out and everyone was complaining, I couldn't understand why, but I sure do now. If there is some little thing I'm missing please let me know. I mean I'd like to use a one handed sword...... for one handed 1, but even that isn't possible. It seems that unless you want to surrender all your skills, you cannot learn a new weapon. I've been playing for quite a while, but I'm thinking War Craft is starting to sound pretty good. Convince me to stay.

Quit solo'ing and join a group on Dantooine. I had a friend in game go from lvl 30 to 80 in 2 weeks. And he doesnt play all that often. No one needs to convince you to do anything. If you don't like the game and it isnt fun for you to play, then you should quit.

K unlike how it was Pre CU, groups are the must now to gain good exp. Most people were able to grind to lvl 80 due to 2x exp which has been happening quite often it seems. It is very possible to grind out one in a day or 2 if you really wanted during that time. If you are going BH, the only hard grind will be the investigation part. Jump in a group Level 70-80 and you gain def bonuses and are "part" of that group at lvl 80. All you need now is 1 hit to get full exp. If you are part medic or doc and heal the party, you will lose the combat exp to medical exp. If the group is a good one you will fly through most of those trees. You will need to become a double master to reach level 80 if Im not mistaken. If you are going BH a good combo is any of BH with Pistoleer/Rifleman/Carbineer.On my BH im Master Marksman/BH/Riflesman/Pistoleer0003. Point being you must be in a Group. The Sith are I believe lvl 77-78. You will need to be around that level or once again in a higher level group to defeat them. Head to Dant Mining Outpost as it seems to always be the place to go, and look for a hunting group. If you are trying to go at it solo, it will take forever. MBH I believe takes like 350k combat exp. Not an easy task solo. Just jump in a group, go hunting with friends of higher levels, if you are part of a guild ask if any hunting groups are out and about. They are trying to force the grouping aspect again. I can say it is alot more fun now with a group then it was solo grouping.

Your best bet is to stop playing for 6-8 months. I've been back for about a month, after a year's hiatus, and at first the game itself looked like it had made some progress and things seemed to be running smoother. But after spending some time in the game, I've observed a few things.

#1: Soloing is gone. IE: Playing this game has become difficult for the casual gamer. The developers, it seems, finally caved and went the route of EQ.

#2: The loot situation has turned even fellow guild members into loot whores who steal from each other.

#3: The Developers seem to be catering to the younger Hard Core gaming crowd. (IE: The ones who like hard core gaming, but actually REALLY like things just being handed to them.) So basically, the developers seem to be catering to the kids.

#4: Server Population has dropped some in the year I was gone, not only that, but it seems like the population was swapped out with young adults/adults to almost solely kids.

#5: The adults that are still here seem very bitter, (I wonder why they still play?) and have themselves become loot whores due to the poor loot situation and the need to keep up with the Jones' family.

#6: Patching is still disorganized, and long in coming it seems. Bugs still take months/years?? to squash. There are some bugs still around that have plagued this game since launch. Namely the chat tabs resetting, items poofing, broken quests. etc.

#7: Not really sure what the point of the CU was at all? As I remember the whole deal was that the XP for groups was borked. Then SOE announced they were doing this CU, that apparently took over a year, when they could have simply upp'd the XP for groups back to what it WAS, and left it alone. To me this is the worst part of it all. They spent so many man hours and all they really did was make the game more EQ like, and.... Up the XP to almost what it was during beta. (doh!)

#8: When I left it was the holocron fiasco, now that I'm back, it's the Over-Population of Jedi Fiasco. Under normal circumstances I would have assumed that in the amount of time SOE's had, they could have figured out something with the visibility thing, making it more difficult for Jedi to roam cities dueling each other. But oh well.

#9: Jedi have become gated for many players. The Casual Player, the non-combat player, the RP-player. In fact, just about ALL the people the developers and Lucas Arts originally WANTED to be Jedi, have been gated from becoming it, and instead it is the power-gamers, the exploiters, and the 10 year old Uber kiddies who are now Jedi.

Finally, SOE had basically "1" shot to get Jedi right. They knew this from the beginning, 1 single mistake, and there'd be too many, completely blowing the entire "vision" for this game. Well, we all know Dev. teams, and especially Dev. teams for SOE, and of course it always takes them a million times to get anything right. And they blew their "1" shot. There's no way to take it back now without shutting the game down and spending the next 5 years working with another dev. team to see if THEY can get it right.

Basically, the same problems that were around a year ago, seem to still be here.. IMO, If your bored with the game, and can't find any reason to bother logging in. Quit for a while. try back later. Right now I'm still enjoying space and doing some of the quests. But I already know I won't be around when the content runs out because the game still feels like a beta-test to me. The Customer service still stinks, and after two years, I think it will take this game much longer than it did EQ to get these things straightened out. EQ had made noticeable progress every year. SW:G seems to be in a October 2003 time-warp.

Ultimately, what really bums me out is that when my PA started this game together, they, all of them, helped each other out, and now, after a year, many of them have been reduced to dishonesty, and shady dealing, all because of some pixellated items and a developer team that hasn't been able to work itself out in over 2 years and get a handle on this stuff.

In fact, IMO, if this game were anything but Star Wars, I think LA and SOE would have already shut it down due to lack of subscribers. It remains to be seen, what with the hoopla of the prequels pretty much over with, whether this franchise will be able to stay afloat like UO, or EQ has over the years. Right now I'm doubtful.

P.S. It may seem to you that there has been an influx of new players lately, but to me, there are less than there were a year ago, and the majority of players that I have run into over the last 3 weeks or so have only recently re-subscribed. I don't think we had a SINGLE group on Dantooine that I was in during double-xp week that did not have at least 1 other re-subb'd player like myself in it.

Some stuff I agree with you and some I dont... This statement I really disagree with. The game is not the same as it was pre-CU and if you try and play it with a pre-CU mentality you *will* have a difficult time.

You can see my profession in my sig. With a good suit of Tantel armor, some Brandy, Stim Ds, and the occasional pixie I can kill almost anything in the game. The trick is not to aggro everything at once unless you're melee with COB and good armor. I'm at the village and so far I have been able to solo up to 3 or 4 Sith shadows (level 78ish) at once.

Again, this isnt the same game as it was pre-CU so you have to learn the new system and not get stuck in the mind set of the old (IE get a buff, put on somee comp, and kill Mutant rancors and NightSisters by the dozens w/o any danger of being killed).

I like your advice though about taking a break. I did and I 100% recommend it to anyone who is getting burned out.

from your post i can say two things about you:

1) you dont have a single friend ingame, nor the capaility to talk to the people ingame to get advice

2) you dont know how to use the forum to serch for info advice, you only know how to rant on it.

This game dosent need whiners like you. Do yourself and us all a favor and start to play TETRIS, that will suit your playing style and it can be played solo.

Sorry for the "bad" response, but maybe this will get you to seek some advice help before going on this pointless rant.

I don't like to be given odd jobs. Unless it is in the job desciption and you are paying well, no. If you are having that big of a problem figuring things out, I doubt there is anything anyone can do to help you. Not to be harsh, but seriously all it takes is a few minutes figuring things out and you're off to the races.

The real deal with #1 is that a casual gamer by SOE's standards plays the game less than 5 hours a week. If that player has to spend an hour (accumulated throughout the week.) looking for groups, then it becomes very difficult for them to get anywhere. That's all I meant by that.

In fact, anywhere but Dantooine, and that player may spend 2-3 hours looking for a group or trying to put one together.

...and if you want to solo, ther's a way to do that. I don't think it's an exploit, if it is, someone please let me know.

If you want to solo grind, just use the system. There's no way around it being slower, but it doesn't have to take forever either. Same solution, group. If you have friends or guildies that are CL 80, ask if they mind you grouping for a while with them, just for your solo grind. I advise, like with the theme parks ( time being the problem, not XP), you group with someone that doesn't mind, then do the park. I've heard so many player talk about being CL 20's or 30's and soloing the Parks (like the Reb), and it's so easy. Bull Pancakes!! If I'm a CL 39 (which I am) and I wanna do the Reb Park, either I group and go solo, or I bring friends. If you look at the layout of the Themeparks, they're no MEANT to be done by a bunch of friends. You can do it that way, but the mission holder is the only one the giver talks to, they always address you as an individual, and they ask "you" for a favor.

I'm doingf the Reb Park right now. I'm on the last two missions, and the beasties that I have to fight are CL 54. Can I do that at my CL...NO!! I tried the advise of my friends, I used a root. It lands like 1 in 10 times, and when it does, they get up in 2 seconds or less. What good is that? I tried using my Probot... blew him to peices. This, and the last part of the Reb Park is on Yavin IV.. so you have like 1000 Klik-Knicks to deal with. If you are CL 39, they ALWAYS agro you, and in droves. So I asked a friend to let mew group for the purpose. Still not easy, but doable with care. The Imps were never the problem, they aren't that hard to kill. But the Creatures are another story. Fighting as a CL 80, but being a 39, I'm not getting any XP off the deal, but I get the Badge. Once I'm glowy, and defeat the Sith, both times, and get the access to the Village, I'm taking my time and getting my CL up. Then I can solo on my own.

I've tried every combination I can to use my moves to defeat NPS and creatures that are higher than me, and it just doesn't work. I'm not griping really, I'm trying to figure ways to use the system that SOE has handed us. I want to take my time and get Jedi, but I want to get the trees unlocked so I don't feel like I,m rushed. If I get that done, and they nerf another part of the system, atleast I got my foot in the door.

I real on another post where someone suggested an aprentice system for new Padawans, and that seems to me a good idea. The main point is, if you want to play solo, you still have to group, but you don't have to be on the same planet and follow a group of people around like a Zombie. Just work within the system they gaVE US.
