I (and most other FS players) think that the grinding in the Village has NOTHING to do with the force. Traning in the Force has to do with dicipline. how would it look if Yoda told Luke like this '' Go out there and kill 10000 animals and then come back to me. Then you have learned what you need to know about the Force. Instead of grindning we could still have the phases but then you just had to do the quests and then they would have been much longer and harder, like one quest take like 1 week to complete, and then we could have like 5 phases and u have to do one quest in each phase. And the quests would be nothing to solo you would need like a full group of level 80s. like half as hard as the DWB. What do u think of it out there? write ur meaning here and hope the devs read it and understand that the grinding has nothing to do with the Force!!!

It is nothing personal, It is strictly bussiness.

Of course grinding out makes no sense in the Star Wars wayof becoming a Jedi, but there is no other viable way of becoming one as far as I can tell.

Many people have suggested that there should be a very-long series of quests, but this wouldn't work because it would take the developers forever to make and it wouldn't take very long for players to finish either, removing the 'challenge' of trying to become a Jedi.

I am sure that the day that someone comes up with an improved and more viable system to become a Jedi that devs will consider, but so far this hasn't happened.

dont we have to kill about 40,000 lvl 80 critters or something to grind enough xp now ?

i think it would be nice to bring back 3:1 combat xp exchange and just change nades to hvy wep xp.I dont see why some of the jedi running round now got to grind 100k FS xp in 45mins qith nadesand now we have to suffer for it. Just changing the combat xp exchange has doubled the time to get FS xp we need

Lol I am so glad I played other games before this or I might be like a ton of other people. Play runescape and get to level 70 on there. Lol you will have a new found respect for grinding. Also KotOR really helped me get used to the automated combat which I never did before KotOR.

Grinding is stupid, but it's also the easiest thing to implement from a development perspective. Aside from the obvious revenue benefit, the system is there to make people NOT go for Jedi (not that this works, but still). And to be honest, if they were concerned about continuity and maintaining Star Wars realism, then they wouldn't even ALLOW people to become Jedi. As it is now, we have a story set between Episode IV/V, but we have a population that resembles the Star Wars universe many years before...

So here is what I would do. Keep the current village system, but reduce the length of the phases to 2 weeks and drastically reduce the amount of XP required. This way, people who just want a second slot, or crafters who just want the FS skills, would not be affected. Then enhance the Padawan Trials. Have a series of 50 (or maybe more) quests that you have to take. You can do one quest per week, and each quest would take a minimum of 6-8 hours to do for a skilled player and would be much more difficult than the current quests. So it would take a minimum of a year to finish the trials. I'd also implement some sort of skill loss system - something like if you die, you lose a certain amount of progress on your work on the trials, and you have to redo a certain number of quests. And heck, I'd allow BHs to hunt players that are doing the trials. In other words, Jedi should be EXTREMELY difficult to get, not just long.

But honestly, the system is what it is. If you can't handle the grind, then choose another profession. You don't have to be a Jedi - that's a choice you make. If you're determined to be a Jedi, then hunker down and get er done.

Oh, and by the way, I think it's been stated before that any thread that has "DEVS" or "DEVELOPERS" in the subject will be ignored by the devs...

I do not like the required group ideal. It does not show that YOU are ready , just that you have chosen wisly in your group. It shows that possably your group is ready to be jedi.

I think it should be a solo thing. where only you can do the quest alone. one being like the cave Luke went into on Dagoba (?).

The grind is because if they had you in a class like the "real" jedi kids , you/we would be be screaming our heads off about how boring it is swinging a light saber at a floting ball with a blind fold on. How about the hours of classes on meditation. So , will we be required to be at our keyboards for enough hours to equal 11 or 12 YEARS. With NO AFK ( you have to be paying attention in class, ALWAYS). No, I do not think so.

Luke is diffent , he took the fast track. Maybe because he was Vader's son or just because he was the star of the movie. But to be a jedi you need LOTS of time. Remeber, Anikin was concidered too old to start learning to be a jedi , and they were right, he had already learned emotions that were counter to jedi teachings.

I know the game is not totally true to the movies , but they are trying to base it somewhat to the movies , insomuch as you can with a game that everyone what to be a hero.

yeah but it isnt easy to solo those quest, not everyoen that does the village is lvl 80 when they start. So groups are usefull, id just get a group of friends that are already FS.
