If I am repeating what someone else has already suggested, then I salute their vision
At least some of the people whao are grinding jedi are not doing it to actually get a jedi, they are doing it to unlock the second slot, so that they can have a combat character, and a crafting/entertainer character. So, just give everyone the second slot, but do not make them force sensitive unless they go through the normal steps.
Or, you could give another method to unlock the second slot, that does not involve the village, and would be easier than doing the jedi grind.
What do you all think?

Itsgreat idea. I would think they would HAVE to do this to compete with other mmo's which offer 6 or so characters on a single server.

I agree, and even with the recent exp conversion nerf, I think this idea is still valid and should be strongly considered by the developers.

Yeah, but if they are just in it for the second slot, then they probably won't be playing their Jedi too much. So you really wouldn't see that char around anymore. idk, i just don't think they should limit Jedi... you have a choice!

I still don't understand why people, including Jedi, keep coming up with ideas to reduce the number of future Jedi. How do more and more Jedi directly negatively impacttheir play experience?
I'm happy for people who get Jedi - they've finished a long road, and should be congratulated for accomplishing it. They stuck with it because they wanted it. A lot of the new Jedi aren't likely from powergamers, many are probably (like me) who took their time getting branches and such over a year or so, and are finally unlocking now or soon.
They don't deserve it any less than a pre-pub 9 Jedi.
So, I ask again, to people who think the influx of Jedi should be slowed down - how exactly is your playing experience directly negatively affected by these new Jedi?

Because these "purists" are so obsessed with how others around them act and what they do they feel the slightest change from what you see in the movies ruins the game.
I can understand it too, I used to be like that. I'd complain when I saw a big Jedi fight, things like that.
Then I stopped and thought about why it was bugging me and couldn't find a real reason. Who am I or anyone else to tell others how they can have fun?
On top of that, Jedi have really nice combat animations which are actually enjoyable to watch in some jedi duels.
In the end these purists only pick on Jedi because they're not needed.
Any number of things could be said, all the way from too many medics and creature handlers to saying there's too many rebels.
All it boils down to is a lack of self-satisfaction and too much concern on how others have fun.
Jedi players are no different then anyone else. They spent the time to get what they have, so no one has any real reason to complain about them.
I wont ask anyone complaining about continuity and current time periods to stop it, but some day you'll realise the only one you're making miserable by it is yourself.

Continuity and timeline issues are a big thing to some people. But aside from that there is the fact that SOE used to say in the game FAQ that the road to Jedi would be long and arduous. Most would fall by the wayside and many of those who made it would not be able to maintain their Jedi. The balance to this was of course the notion that Jedi would be very powerful.
When people see Jedi running around left and right it brings it home to them that SOE have utterly failed to implement the system they promised.

My boyfriend jokes that SOE will someday give everyone 2 character slots, one of them Jedi lol. (let's be honest, they might as well).

And give Jedi a 3rd slot (they lose their original combat toon when they unlock)

You can thank Lucas for thefact there's only ONEcharacter slot on the same server, unless a jedi is unlocked: it was part of the publishing deal with SOE.

Actually, TBH, with a pure player driven economy it is best that we only get 1 character per server. Otherwise everyone would have a combat character and a crafting character. Now its just people who unlocked (and many of those get MBH) or people who are willing to spend the money to buy two accounts. If the crafters had their own combat characters to go out and get loot, the loot getters wouldn't make as much money. If every combat character had a crafter alt to make them armor and weapons, those items would drop in price as well.
