Okay so a fine other player showed us a great way for this quest. We were beating down on the thugs (had one to go to kill the 5th), just taken down the shield and suddenly saw something strange. 2 Players who had logged in the base just came online, killed one thug, and left with "our" Capt. Sure there is no mine or yours in this game but this tactic just pisses me off. We did all the work and they just killed one thug and left the base...

Helluva a strategy they are using. What a way to promote the Jedi ways. Stealing is right at the top of the Jedi Code.

On our first attempt, we had a small group rush in to the tent with the commander. I couldn't capture the commander, since the shield take-down guy died and cloned, so it said HE had to capture the commander (which makes no sense, no group bonus then).
Luckily, the person in the tent with me saw that we were working on it, and shouted "Stand down, not ours!" and ran off. I don't know if they were hoping to screw us over, or were just polite (realizing I was in there for the commander). They very well may have intended to screw us over, but the commander wouldn't follow them.
Either way, this "strategy" is despicable. I hate it when people do this kind of junk in this game, and I'd love it if when the shmucks who stole your commander *finally* got to Jedi, a message came up saying, "You have not followed the Jedi ways, you require more training" or something.
If only there was a way to do that...
Good luck with your next attempt

I entirely disagree.
People often forget the "RPG" part of "MMORPG." If the people who stole your commander were imperials, and henceforth aligned with evil and malignancy, their allowing you to do their dirty work is entirely, 100% valid and on par with the rules of the game. They did not exploit a programming fault, nor did they defraud another player. It sucks that you got punked, but what they did is legal and valid within the rules of play, and you must admit, very original.
Consider also the possibilty that it was entirely unintentional. It's conceivable that they logged there or got disconnected on a previous attempt, and when they returned, Holy Crap! There he is!!! and captured. I would be very, very impressed if such a work-around of the sith was developed with forethought and intent, but even still, how would they know the exact moment to relog and capture? They would have to have a friend watching your base who could report when the commander spawned, but be able to report out of game such as by phone, or to an alternate character. Sure it's possible, and terribly well coordinated if so. Either these cats got lucky and hooked your mouse or you very plainly got punked. Did you talk to them while they were walking back?
On the bright side, if you were the one that lowered shields, all you have to do is follow those guys back to the village and walk near to the Captain to get your unlock credit. It then becomes as though you and this other guy shared the quest.
Either one sucks for you, definitely, and I do sympathize with you. I just hope you aren't too upset about it, and I surely hope you were able to complete the quest on another attempt. If it hasn't worked out for you, I run an unlock guide service for this quest and have a success record of 7 for 7 attempts. I can promise unlocking to you and another person; contact me in-game for pricing and availability.
IGN is revelation.
Cheers!

Heh it's okay, I apreciate the offer though. I am just collecting bits of information about this quest.
Can you confirm one rumor I heard. Namely that you don't have to kill the 5 thugs to make the captain spawn.
I'd plan to do this whole thing with 3 guys, my buddy and me (who took the mission together) and another friend. I drop the shield then lure the thugs away and DIE. This will spawn the captain. (I am sure this works so far) BUT will I also get credit for the mission altough the ingame text says otherwise? I think some ppl claim they got the unlock anyway...

You can do it that way, sure. You drop shields then die (dying's the easy part, right? heh).
HOWEVER, you have to clone and come back to capture. You then don't have to fight the sith, but you *do* have to get the commander out and escort him back to the village.
I report this to you as my own collection of here-say; please don't interpret it as my own personal experience. For my unlock quest clients I do not require / encourage them to die because I feel that it's a cheap work around, and very often they're out there in their very best armor (who wants to take that kind of condition hit on 83% full comp? Not me, man).
Good luck bro.

Heh okay thanks! I will try that and sure it IS cheap, and we could kill the 5 thugs, BUT I tried on 3 bases today (not counting the one where those guys were already inside)
And everytime some other guys came too and started causing havok, by either pulling thugs or tagging along to just get the cpt.
(Maybe I were just unlucky, but I have nearly done this quest normal 3 times, so one cheap try is in it

lol I don't blame you at all man. The point is to get the unlock, by any means necessary.....
Which is exactly what your friends did that logged in on top of your commander!
Good luck again, hope you get it.

You don't by chance happen to know of anyone like this on Radiant, do you?

I might concider travelling to these different servers to help people. Tempt me.
I will add that I will not be able to actually fight, as I only have 1 character on Starsider. I could however lead your group to an easy victory.

This method works well, I have tried it myself. But the post above is a bit misleading. A critical part to this tactic is knowing when to die and when to clone. You should lead the sith away from the base as far as possible. Your buddies should be waiting behind the base. Once you die the sith will eventually start to de-spawn, as soon as the person dies, the commander will spawn, but DO NOT CLONE until the commander is captured, or else your buddy cannot capture him. Once the sith despawn you have roughly 10-20 seconds to break in, steal the commander, and run out before the sith respawn, so be quick. If they respawn on you just run away as fast as possible and try to have your support people drag them off of you. If you get far enough ahead of them they will just let you go but you might not live that long. So do not clone right away, but clone when he is captured and rejoin the group on the way back. I don't know if that post ment to clone and come back to capture him, or escort, just clearing that up. Good luck with the quest. It took me 6 hours, 4 buffs and a set of armor (Had to keep doing it over to unlock the people that helped me do it)
