Thread: crystals for the future?

Hi all

I was thinking about crystals yesterday, while I was grinding for my jedi toon. I got one from the Phase 3 quest, but I believe that there are needed more for the different generation sabers.

I also know, that I can buy them around for horrible prices. I also know one or two spots, where I can loot one (if I'm lucky enough). I heard, that krayt perls are also a need for LS?

Now my question. Should I loot as many crystals as possible, before I start with padawan? Or will I have the opportunity to loot one with my jedi toon itself?

Maybe this questions belongs to the jedi forum, but I wasn't sure. Because I'm sensitiv atm, I ask it here.

And can some of you give me some hints, where I can loot crystals without facing uber, uber enemies and I can solo with a good rate of success?

cheers
Exi

Well you can get poor-average crystals in the Tusken caves.
If you're an elite combat profession you might also be able to solo krayts.
You will of course still be able to hunt creatures for crystals when you are Padawan - in fact you will still have practically the same skills you do now for quite a while. The only thing is that you don't want to die as you will lose Jedi XP. You might want to consider gettting Feign Death in case you are close to dying.

There's a Jedi FAQ sticky in the Jedi forum that covers most of what you ask, but if you can get the crystals before you reach Padawan, it's a good idea. You will need a coloured crystal for the training saber (like the one from the Melee Accuracy quest), and a coloured and damage (white) crystal for the 1st Gen and upwards sabers - you should be aware that not all the crystals tune well, but the better quality the crystal the more likely you will get a good tune. You can put as many damage crystals into a saber as it's generation number (1 at 1st Gen and up to 4 at 4th Gen).

When you get your toon to Jedi you will still be able to loot them, but you most of the Mobs that drop the crystals are NPC's which will count towards visibility if you use your LS or any force powers - you do however get an extra toon which you can grind into a crystal gatherer, or you can just use your Jedi toon's previous combat skills until you have to drop them for Force skills/powers.

Catch up with me in game if you've got any specific questions Min

Thanks for all your answers

And I consider to go for crystal hunting with you geraith. There will be no excuse that you are a padawan and too weak

But can I really solo a Krayt Dragon as TKM? And to ask very silly, where could I probably find one? I also read, that the loop drops are borked too. So no loot from Krayt dragons atm.

Well, actually you only need ONE color crystal. You can take it out of the training saber and put it into the 1st generation saber. And take it out of the 1st generation and put it in your 2nd generation and so on.

Same with damage crystals : you can take them out of the sabers and oput them into others. So you only need 1 at novice, an extrawhen you reach the 2nd box in the saber of your choice, a 3th if you reach the 4th box and a 4th when you reach master (if ever).

Near the Krayt graveyard on Tatooine.

No offense, but I'm surprised that someone who is on the Jedi path and has been registered since July 2003 doesn't know that.

well.. I never was interested in hunting krayts.. thats the reason..

And only because there is a POI doesn't include that there are also the creatures. I can't hunt R2D2 and C-3PO on their crash site either (j/k)

Get as many power crystals as you can. The tunes are random and most good and average ones will tune with low stats. Many players will tune dozens to get one with good stats, the rest become house decorations. You can never have too many power crystals. Do it now because the last thing you're going to want to do with your padawan, is fight an NPC. Because of the xp loss upon death (cloning), the risk is too great for a beginning padawan. Plus you can't use your force powers on an NPC unless you like BHs coming out of the woodwork.

ya its pretty stupid that you have to get cyrstals from NPCs
that not really great for padawans
but most padawans still have their normal combat skills(some) so they will be able to get them but still thats not a great way that would be cool if you could do quests in the villege to get cyrstals the better and faster you do the mission the better the cyrstal you get

I've found crystals on the following:

  • Alkaryd Champions, Tat

  • Mokk Shamans

  • Escaped Singing Mountain Clan Slaves

  • Nightsister/Singing Mtn. Clan Initiates

  • Nightsister Rangers

  • Singing Mtn. Clan Dragoons

  • Dantooinian Force wielders

There are many others that drop crystals, including Tusken Raiders, ewoks, korga shamans, and the like. Also, locked containers will occasionally have a crystal in them. The thing that worries me is that once I wind up stripping off skill points for Jedi skills, I will eventually be forced to fight NPCs with a lightsaber. Which means inevitable visibility hits! And the likelihood of poor tuning results seems to be very high. Plus, crystals gradually decay with use, same as conventional weapons.

So, you better believe I am stockpiling crystals now! Up to 12 color crystals and one clear power crystal so far, and counting.
