Thread: Phase 3 Combat Quest needs to be fixed
This needs to be adressed. I've attempted this way to many times to not get this.

I doubt seriously it will get fixed before phase 4 hits. I will just cancel my FS account for 9 weeks until the phase 3 comes around again.
Good luck to us all.
I did the mission with 5 people, qui-sage and feerhei and some other great members from my guild, we got it done in about an hour, on corbantis we went to the delta base which was only 2k away from the village.. So it worked out quite well, I agree it was hard, but from what I heard it was also hard pre-cu. So don't let it get ya down, once you get the hang of it CU is great, I have filled so many boxes hunting with a group of 5 or 6 out of MO during double XP week. Keep it up it works great
yeah --- I am on bloodfin and I heard that I need the kappa remote. That is the closest one. Can anyone confirm this for Bloodfin. I heard it is different on each server.

This Phase 3 mission has always been the hardest even Pre CU. I had to walk him 6k back to the village and it took three attempts but eventually we got there. Third attempt we followed the despawn method (there is a guide here somewhere with this described in detail) and managed to avoid most of the mobs. Take a big group of people that need to do it and alternate the missions 2 at a time. If you have 6 people that need it group up and 2 at a time take the mission and complete. then switch up. This will do 2 things. Enable you to take the Sith faster or run interference so others can grab the commander. you should then be ableto complete the mission before the timer expires. It is not impossible it just takes a lot of effort. It was not made to be simple. For those of you having this as your last unlock, I feel for you, beep your heads up guys you've made it this far....
While I think we all appreciate the encouragement.. I have participated in the mission numerous times pre-CU and while it was easily the hardest of all the village quests we didn't have any problems at all once we had captured the commander.
While it is easier now to take the base itself down (or seemed easier) we found it impossible to get him back in time. Pre-CU the commander would run to follow the capturing player, however now he simply moves at a normal player walking speed with NO terrain negotiation.
The last attempt that my group made on Friday, we did not stop for ANYTHING at all. The capturing player just kept walking, while the rest of the group disposed of any mobs that got in our way quickly.
From a base that was 6000m from the village we were still 1700m short by the time the commander died. If we were 200m short I might believe we could have shaved a little time by better use of the terrain (avoiding hills, etc) but 1700m is a LOT of distance to "shave" ![]()
I think it's quite possible to do the mission if leaving from one of the 3000m camps but unfortunately it's luck of the draw which shield codes you loot. With 19 shield controllers in my inventory I seem to have looted everything BUT the right ones!
Basically, I have no problem with "challenging" but to rely on pure fluke to get the right codes is beyond challenging! I believe challenging is making me work harder and think harder about how to overcome the problem. Just making me constantly spend all my gaming time on Dathomir searching for the right code isn't challenging - it's just purely frustrating.
For the record I've noticed that a few other "escort" type missions that I've done lately (a couple on Kashyyyk) now have the escortee (?) travelling at a walking pace as well. Perhaps this is just a wider bug or "feature" that hasn't been mentioned yet.

Hopefully it is just a coding bug. I agree the walking and non terrain negotiation is probably why the majority of these missions will fail. I think if they fix that to where they follow the pace of the person designated as the one to capture, it may fix that issue.

The fact that the commander now only walks back makes it nearly impossible for someone to escourt him back to the village from the bases that are only 3k away without him dying of poisen. Let alone the 10k bases.
