Should I use Thermal Detonators at 4000 commando, and do I just throw 1 nade per huurton or quenker, or actually kill them with grenades only?

Doing Giant Baz Nitches on Dath would probably be the best way to go.

You just need tokeep throwing the nades at the lair. After thatattack the lair with a weapon until the second lot spawn. This should take about 4 missions to cap combat xp.

What are people getting for combat xp for giant baz nitches? I read elsewhere folks are talking 5k + 10% but the best I've been able to get is about 3500 + 10%. I'm master 2-h sword and 3/0/0/0 commando.

Thanks,

your probably doing them ungrouped....still as a master swordsman, they should give you at least 4k each......to get 5k each, you have to be in a solo group (about 10 people, preferably 20)...this makes the mission difficulty way above 99......at this point, the missions spawn more creatures and they are usually a tad bit tougher (more HAM, higher resist, more special attacks, better to-hit ratio..etc.)

your typical baz nitch mission done while in a solo group using only nades should get you about 75k combat xp each mission (2 missions in the same direction will get you 150k combat xp very quick if you do it right...so 4 missions and you can cap combat xp...traveling takes more time then the missions do)....easy to cap combat xp...and since your only 5k - 6k from the village...makes for quick xp cash ins......

I have had the same problem when I am doing GBN I was getting the same even when I was in an almost maxed out solo group. I decided to do quenkers because they gave me almost the same xp but I seemed to be using less nades. Then again I am just using regular thermals un-puped do to lack of funds and outragious prices that ifind when I do actually find a vendor stocked.

Oh how many nades are you all using to cap combat. I seem to be at 3/4 of a crate of thermals.

Should I use Thermal or imp?

I use about 4 - 5 stacks per lair....so I would say I cap using about 20 stacks or so....all depends on how much weapons xp I do during that time....sometimes I'll kill off the last 2 or 3 creatures with TKM just to save a few nades...so I get quit a bit of unarmed combat xp too.

I don't see such a great difference between thermals and imp detonators to say whether one is better than the other....on my server they are usually priced the same so that's not an issue. The biggest difference is that thermals have AP2 but imp detonators have slightly more max damage.....either one works about equaly for me.....I guess you would see a major difference if you were using them on a light or medium armored mob....but then, who would use nades for that.

I would suggest that you go by which ones are cheaper....they are so close in damage and speed, it really doesn't matter much.......now if your a master commando or will become one....then there is absolutely no better grenade then protons, theres a 1000 damage difference between protons and imp detonators and about 1400 difference between protons and thermals.....the damage of protons is awesome......could kill lairs with 2 - 3 stacks easy providing they are vulnerable to heat damage....however, the downside to protons is their resource requirements...so they can get pretty pricey....but since you use less than half the nades you would normally use, it's not a bad idea to go that route.

I was in a 20 person solo group3 nights ago, a 8 person solo group 2 nights ago, and on my own last night. I didn't see a difference in the amount of xp per creature. The big difference was the number of creatures per lair. Instead of capping twice easily like I did the previous 2 nights, I barely capped once because I spent more time finding lairs. Lesson learned, I won't go out again unless I can get 90+ difficulty missions.

w.r.t Imp and Protons, if you're only going Commando for the force grind, save the extra 150k in combat xp and just use imp detonators. On starsider they are cheaper and as a previous poster said, there isn't much damage difference against the stuff you should be fighting.

damage wise impa and thermals may be close but thermals have a radius of 7 imps have like 3 or 4. it helps alot with the larger area in my opinion
