Thread: Village Phase 1 Survival Quest Bug

I was really hoping I could get this quest done before I had to leave for work. Seemed simple enough, find and escort 5 villagers back to the village. First escort, I get there and get mowed down by the Sith Shadow Pirates due to their overwhelming attack speed. Feign Death is the only thing that saved me. After about 20 minutes, I finaly kill the pirates (and I'm a Master Commando who can barely scratch those things!). I start escorting the villager back and suddenly I hear "uaghhh..." and get a system message saying I had failed. Nothing was around me. The villager just died. I don't know, heart attack or something.

Then I got a group together and brought the first villager back the 1200m. Walking. No, the villager who desperately wants to get home won't run, they have to WALK.

Second escort. 1300m away. We start walking back after clearing the Sith and the villager just stops. No walking, no running, just stops. I talk to her and she says something like we'd better get back to the village. So I start walking again and she doesn't move. We eventually had to drag some nearby gaping spider hunters over to kill her off so I could keep going with the quest.

Are any of you having trouble with escorting the villagers back, because it's getting really annoying that I spent 2 hours out there and only managed to get one villager back.

The best advice I have for escort missions is for you to turn off automatically run in your tools options. Then just take your time and keep away from the red roches on your overhead map. Also when you get a waypoint for a new escort, check to see how far away it is and then delete it if it's too far and try again. Do this until you see something around the 1000m mark. Another thing at certian times during the day and especially at late night hours spawns seem to decrease dramatically. This sounds fishy, but it is true. Especially on Dantooine. If you are lucky enough find a Master Ranger who can Mask scent you. Enemies usually stay far away from you and do not attepmt to kill your escort. Your escort can be done, but it takes practice.

Oh, we were walking. And my scent was masked. First one just up and died, the second one just decided I was too fishy or something and stopped walking.

It's slow and painstaking, but it's a matter of walking very slow and keeping the enemies out of your agro range. The higher CL you have the smaller the agro range gets and the better your chances. I know it all seems impossible, but it can be done. Just have to find a decent enough pattern and a time when spawns are at there bare minimum. It's not a guess that spawns decrease, I feel it's true. It's how I was able to do it even though it was before CU.

Sounds like fun, can't wait to get home and do it myself.

Is there any way to macro walking forward at a very slow pace? Least then you could take out the garbage or do the dishes while waiting for "Speedy" to follow you home.

Or you could go prone, and belly-drag yourself the whole way back.

Only thing I think you can really do is turn off auto run in your tools. Other than that's it'sa time whentime you have to pay really close attention to your screen. Kinda like the Corvette mission all over again. Another thing you coulddo is get a couple of guinee pigs to stay out of your agro range and take the heat off of you that way and let them get shot at. That way they get hit first and the enemies don't pay attention to you and your leisurly stroll through the woods.

In addition to turning off the "Auto Run", try equiping a weapon that will hinder your movement. That will slow you down to about their speed.

I know you mean well, Nothing, but you've not answered if anything like this has happened to anyone else. Yes, I went with a group who attacked the aggros before I got there, yes I was walking the entire time, yes I was carrying a plasma flamethrower to slow me down more. I've been playing for nearly 2 years and know most of the tricks, but the fact is, "speedy" just stopped moving and wouldn't keep following me after I talked to her, unlike most escorts where if you get too far ahead, they stop, you talk to them, they scold you for abandoning them, then they start following you again. This one just stopped, but when I talked to it, it sounded as if it had never stopped at all. She said the same thing she would normally do if she were still following me, "We must bet back to the village," or something to that effect.

SO...has anyone else had their escort just STOP and you had to kill him/her off so you could try again?

I'm slow and hope you may have achieved your goal in this quest. So sorry if I didn't respond sooner. Yes this has happened to many people and the one consistent strategy that results into success is to make sure you keep your escort target in your target radial. Then stay within 25 meters of the target and keep moving, but never go outside 25 meters. I truly wish I was there to help you, but obviously I can't and I know it's frustrating. You've been on 2 years such as myself, so I no you will figure it out because it can be done and there isn't a bug involved, it just takes way too much time to do than I think any of us thought we were set out to do. Good luck and sorry I'm unable to give you any more help. Sounds like a canned response, but I swear I'm not a CSR.

I posted how to fix the stopped escort on one of the other survival I threads, but I'll restate it.

Everytime I've ever seen the villager stop, it was at a hill. The deal with this is these villagers will NOT walk at to steep an incline or decline. If your villager stops on a mountain/hill side, walk back to it and converse. Then hold the radial down and click follow. From there, walk directly to the right or left and the villager will start walking when you're about 7 meters away. From there it's more of the same....walk slow as hell back to the village. In the case of incline/decline, you have to walk at along the sides of the mountain going down slightly. The villager will follow you until you try to go down/up to much. Then the villager just looks at you like an idiot.

As for the heart attack villager, or one who just stops moving and will never start up again? That's a bug...submit a ticket and restart. It's a pain...but the path to Jedi was never meant to be quick and easy. Hope this helps out.

I ran into the same problem with the villager stopping. I was simply patient and kept telling him to "follow me". Eventually he got off his azz and moved. As for movement this method worked for me. As long as there were no red dots you can move up to 100m away from him without losing him. I would get ranged and then just go mess around on the internet for a bit. Took about 60-90 seconds for him to catch back up. I never failed a mission so this DOES work.

i did this quest without one problem , with the help of a friendly master rifleman...there is an option, not to converse, but it's #3 on the radial, it says FOLLOW ME...you should probably try that....my villiagers stopped about 5 times...all i had to do was that, fixed everything, and yea turn off autorun and just walk back....it's the safest way
