I believe you still lose XP from BH deaths, and the XP loss formula is generally the same (or pretty close). No XP from PvE death is a a nice bonus, but that's why we all wanted and worked for that Hero ring.

If calculations are correct (based on some assumptions on how the new XP system works), a full group will net you a baseline 1/8th the XP, but will also be adjusted based on the percentage of damage done by each member. A new Padawan with a training LS will do perhaps 120-150 damage per attack (just an estimate but something I've seen Padawans do in groups).

So assuming a 9K HAM Bol:

Also assume thatthat same Padawan gets off 5 attacks that hit (optimistic, but let's assume 600 damage), the adjusted XP percentagethat the Padawan would get is:

600/9000 = 0.067%

This is where some folks can help. Does that Padawa get 1/8 * 750 (Jedi XP) and whatever that 0.067% entails? Or does the Padawan only get the 0.067% * 750 (Jedi XP) that represents the relative damage he/she dealt?

Even with the best scenario of getting BOTH:

1/8 (0.125) * 750 = 93.75

0.067 * 750 = 50.25

= 144 (Jedi) XP

as opposed to the full 750 XP. That's less than 20% of what it was before the new system (post-CU).

Add to it that soloing for a Padawan with a 150 damage LS, even at CL50, is fairly untenable (it would take quite long to kill that CL50 creature 150 damage at a time), the prospects look bleak for new and soon to be Padawans.

This also obviously applies to new players starting out on a combat profession.

Sure, but those creatures didn't take 15 minutes eachto kill (I know, I got Jedi pre-CU killing feral banthas at the beginning). Try killing a CL50 Bol as a CL50 Padawan and I'm sure you'll see the difference.

Pretty sure it took like 5 minutes to kill 1 quenker with Novice sabers. People will work out for to grind efficiently, they ALWAYS do.

IMO, a CL50's padawan is kinda lucky b/c many of the wild spawns will give you XP...the 60+ guys need to worry

Even if you're right, that's still 1/3rd of the current "system". But you forget that you were able to progress more quickly pre-CU as your damage output goes up. With the CL system, that Padawan will be stuck in that CL50's level for a much longer time keeping that XP gain the same for a lot of boxes.

Funny you should mention.

I made padewan this morning (and I'm still catching up on all the things I need to know). But I did manage to do a little killing. I am still combat level 80 from being a MD/MF

For whatever reason, I was able to craft a 4th generation double bladed LS - so I did.

I trekked on out to Kashyk, and went to far end of the Ryatt trail. Trying to solo a level 80 mob, I could not do enough damage to overcome the healing delta. Every hit (around 230 per) was counteracted about 90% before I could hit again.

I teamed up with an MD/MP, and could then take down 1 mob - which yeilded about 400 xp for me, and 2000 xp for my teammate.

What am I doing wrong?

...

SOE should get all my credit card info.
However, any time they try to charge me for my SWG account, they only get 1/4 of the money before the transaction fails.

Then I would post a message about all the great money that's there (and post a screenshot), but they have to wait for my next hotfix before they can get any more.

It's probably "working as intended" (which means whatever they intend at the moment).

But as you need to train those Jedi Novice boxes, your CL (a TKM/Novice everything Padawan is around CL57 if the skill builder I'm using is correct)will go down dramatically and so will the damage/XP you gain.

So the estimates some of the folks I've seen to "justify" the XP fix are making is pure fantasy (i.e., 32,000 Bols at 1K Jedi XP per Bol is the same pre-CU). No Padawan will be making anywhere near 1K XP for a long time.

Pre CU, as long as you only fought creatures that were just hard enough to get max xp but not too hard that you waisted time to get the same xp. You could kill them in about 30 seconds or so. Now to max out your xp you can get, you are sitting there for 5-10 min killing something.

Not to mention, pre-cu you could get buffs that made the creatures of that level pretty much unable to do anything to you.

I also remember being able to get 500k XP an hour with only 0044 LS and some other random stuff. Last few times I went and did wookies (before Health increase) on the trail, I probably made about 100k xp an hour (I'm finished template). Now I guess it is even worse.
