OK this thread is to hopefully clear things up.
What do FS skills really do for a player not going the full Jedi route?
Why grind tons and tons of xp to get 4 boxes of FS melee speed if you can wear a +12 weapon speed belt with an anti-decay kit on it?
Is their any real chart to show how these enhance your main skills since they get their own bracket? I do understand that these FS skills will come in handy when the Combat Revamp hits, but how will they effect the "NO STACKING" rule change.
SWG is a good game despite all the headaches, its just a shame you have to jump through so many hoops to find the answers your looking for.
So, if I have +88 Polearm Speed, +12 Melee FS Speed, and I was using a Nightsister Lance with 1.8 speed, how fast am I really attacking per assault?
Head hurts...
Just trying to figure out what these skills really do for us non-Jedi. Has anyone had any luck using any of the other skills? Its also a shame that some classes really dont get to gain anything from these FS skills. Where are the FS skills for CH?

I suppose the way to look at is these are little extras not essential skills. You can for example still speed cap without the 12 point bonus for FS but go take a look on the trade forums and see how much money you have to pay for a +12 speed tape.
Same goes for Melee Defence, Ranged Defence, Scouting etc. they can all be replaced with skill tapes but they cost money & sockets.
My second char will probably become a force sensitive combatant of some sort but I wont kill myself grinding out the experience.
Oh and btw this will help calculate speed caps Clicky.

From my experiences with FS skills I've found that the ranged spd tree helped tons. I've been master rifleman for ages and I got the ranged spd tree as one of my free unlocks and I've noticed that im as fast if not faster than a spd capped rifleman who's using AA and skill tapes. I'm so fast in fact I've given away quite a few rifle spd tapes, I don't need them
As for the other skills in FS I've gotten I really haven't noticed any big improvements like I have with the ranged spd.But hey the +20 melee and ranged defense couldn't hurt right?

I'm mainly doing it to get the 2nd toon, because storage is a major major major problem in this game for players who craft.

You cannot go over the speed cap. All professions that speedcap shoot with at 1 per second. If you have a profession that speedcaps at master then having the FS speed trees doesn't help u go over it.

well, +20 melee/ranged defense is the only combat skill I would want to have if not going jedi. and its easy pickins, as far as Skill points are concerned, only takes 4 for melee and 4 for ranged, so you get the most for your skill points, but its alot of work.

keep in mind its general ranged speed, not "Rifle Speed" i think its a little less than the actual numbers.. I hear it averages at about +4 total for a speed tree, not +12.

I have master brawler, FS melee Speed and master swordsman, with a +3 2h melee speed chest plate (90% non-decaying of course
), and I am attacking at the speed cap with an acklay hammer (6.0 speed).Yaah FS speed. I am rich enough now that i can afford to get +12 from a single tape, but why bother? I have little enough ranged and melee defence that +20 is not going to help me at all (no, +20 is not going to help you against a krayt or NS Elder). What i don't understand is why a jedi would think he/she needs ranged speed or accuracy. Most of the FS skills are more useful if you are not a jedi. I guess going FS surveying might be kinda handy for throwing off bh's since you will be doing a lot of moving and in random directions /shrug.

1. Some poeple can't afford tapes .. btw, you don't need anti-decay on a modded belt.
2. Crafting Assembly, Experimentation, and that other one which I can't remember helps crafting.. I haven't had personal experience with it but it does. The only thing it doesn't help is Jedi Crafting.
3. Good defense for us with a little skill points leftover fromour template.

You do know that your 2nd tune shares lots with your FS one? Though I suppose you get an extra 280 items with inventory, backpack & bank.
