I've been readinga great many posts about the FS XP grind being too long and so forth. I just wanted to know how many people think the work is worth the reward?
I mean ... I've read a lot of theories on how to make the grind better and more rewarding for casual gamers; 'double xp' for non-powergrinders (PG'ing) and they all have some good points however most are seriously flawed and not practical for SWG.
IMHO - I don't mind the grind at all. Yes is can get boring. Yes it's time consuming.Yes it can even get rather expensive. But like any 'elite' character class in a MMO its gonna take time and effort to achieve your goal. I know there's a great many Jedi already out there (props to most all the jedi) but can you imaginine how many MORE Jedi there would/will be if we didn't have this Quest/XP to FSXP system in place.
Like most people i'll be online tonight killing gurks on Lok or bols on Dant... yes it's a bit of a grind but the reward is well worth the effort.
/goodluck

I dont mind it but it can get a little boring and hard to balance with real life. I tend to do it in two days spurts then all the time. Couple of 10 hours days and then I stay off for 3 or 4.

Imo.... The FS grind just sucks lol. But I think that once I get Jedi, I wont mind it as much becuase... I'm finally a Jedi... So I wont be in so much of a rush. But the FS grind... Bah....

I heard horror stories about the FS grind. And you know what? I don't know what everyone has been complaining about.
I suppose it is my MMORPG history; but the FS grind doesn't seem that bad at all. Asheron's Call utterly annihlates the FS grind without even blinking

Exactly. If you have played EQ and gone through all the real end game content, you know how tough it is to really grind. I played that game as religiously as I now play this one and my highest toon in EQ was 44. Of course I had some other toons of various levels, but as far as combined time goes, I spent far more time in EQ and accomplished a lot less than I have here.

I agree with Cubeman. There are alot of weeks of waiting for the phase shifts, so it's not like there's an incentive to rush. I'll grind for a few nights on the weekdays or really hard during the weekend, but then it's no problem at all to just sit back and take a break. I must say, having an alt does wonders for keeping the stress and repetitiveness away. I get sick of playing as my combat-fs-grinder, so i just logon my peaceful doc and go help the n00bs in Mos Eisley. Keeps me sane.

To add, i think the FS grind would be much more acceptable if those FS boxes just gave you some usefull skills. I mean come on, +5 melee defense is just a joke compared to how much time it takes to grind out a lvl4 Reflexes box. And that's one of the BEST boxes, the rest are even more useless. The only reward for grinding FS is the glowstick toon and second slot, and you don't get those till the very end. Granted those two rewards are well worth the effort, but couldn't they have thrown us a usefull bone along the way.

Yes I agree, all in all post CU grinding is better because you can do it grouped and have some company. It's also a lot faster as pre-CU was kinda slow while solo grinding(at least without nades)!
So to answer you question, No I dont mind doing it

I don't mind it at all, even though I started too late in phase 4 to get the unlock before phase 1 came around again. I've got 3 phases left including the one I'm in now till I've got all 6 branches unlocked, I do dantooine or yavin groups for grinding fs xp and it really doesn't take that long.

All I gotta say as encouragment and as a eye opener for those that dont know. If you think the FS grind is long, wait for the jedi grind. Right now you get 5-6k exp per kill as a jedi you will get 100 until you get better skills which will then bring you about 1k per kill. Plus the need to regen force often. Imagine grinding 30+Million exp at 1k per kill but face the risk of losing 2x what you are worth on the terms if a BH comes after you.As a padawan you will be hunted and probably killed often till you gain higher skills.Solo grind is near impossible as a jedi to gain enough exp to consider it worth it, so right now you are pretty much forced to group, which will mean a BH will pay you a visit sometime. So enjoy the easy grind now, the actual grind will come after that 24th is filled, if you think of it as a grind.. To me it was well worth it. Being where I am is what I wanted since I saw my first one way back when... So although it is a grind to me, I am enjoying it. Either way good luck to you guys, just have fun with it..

I look at it this way, I take my time and play the game the way I want to play it. Took me almost 2 years to finally get glowing, I wanted to play the game not grind every profession out there. Now that I am in the village so far Ihave 2 unlocks done, and a total of 2 boxes filled. I like to solo and that is the way I play so eventually I will finish. My view of the grind is slow and steady wins the race.
