Good tip. I also reccomend jumping to another planet then shuttling back. This worked for me a couple of times when my contact didn't show up at the WP.

from past experiences, both my own and people on the forums, this only brings back the wp most of the time, but doesnt help the npc spawn. dismounting seems to help more than shuttling (also you dont need to change planets to do this, just shuttle to somewhere else on the same planet)

Ever got to a quest & not been able to attack? this has happened to me several times, only once during a phase 1 quest, but lots of times getting glowie =(
