I think it's unfair to make players commit so much of their lives to grinding jedi. I feel it's to keep players account active, longer. But in turn the devs made a boo boo with the combat ex ratio...I mean are they literaly trying to make their player base physicaly angry and upset. If they were, I have never seen any type of developer do SUCH a good job at it.
I've been fighting a real war in the middle east since 2/04. What this 2x 4x exp your talking about?.... And YES IT'S GREAT TO BE HOME!!

Because not everyone wants to be the uber pwnzor (or whatever drivel you fight obsessed types say!). Some of us just develop a character for our own satisfaction. Mixing various profs to make what we want to play, irrelevant of whether they will get beaten in certain fights. Not everyone plays to try and "win".
The thread poster has my sympathies, as do all the people who are still grinding fs xp. The system is SO backwards. You shouldnt have to spend months and months to get to the unlock, then grind out a whole template forjedi in 3-4 weeks, it should be the reverse.
As for the dumb comment about 2x and 4x xp weeks.. maybe the person was busy in RL? Maybe they had stuff to deal with? Maybe they were in hospital, grieving a loved one's death? Maybe you should wake up a bit and realise not everyone can dedicate their entire life to playing a game?
Indeed the change does seem short sighted by the DEVs .... it has been said before but has to be said again: Why not just change the way nades worked to give Heavy weapons xp instead of nerfing combat xp? Couldn't be botheredto rework one combat facet.... a lot easier just to add a zero to the conversion of combat xp.

The problem is that getting initiate is now a complete nightmare.
All this change has done is divide even more those people who want to unlock an alt, or dabble in a little force use for their own satisfaction, and the hardcore "I want to beateveryone" gamers. If they wanted to make a change, they should have altered the rate you can go from cdef saber wielding punch bag to full templated ready to kick ass jedi from the 3-4 weeks it takes now to the 7-8 months it used to. Not everyone wants a full jedi.

Jedi isn't going to make the game more funfor me, but being able to create another char to be Merchant, and a Master Elite Combat Profession, and to have a char that will be higher CL than 1 will be more fun!!

I'm also a double elite crafter (a massive CL 10), and am certainly not liking how long it will take to grind out my second slot. Thats all I want, so I can make an alt which is a combat class. But, I suppose grinding with friends will make it easier. I always knew opening the second slot would be difficult, but, hopefully, it won't be as hard as it appears.
