Okay I have to make a decision soon. In short this is to either keep terrain negotiation. (scout 1/0/0/0), or take the box in last box in the TKA tree that gives ya +15 Def Acuity, +15 ranged/melee defense. I have 18 skill points left over, the choice is between this or that. I probably want to keep scout just to harvest things. But is terrain negotiation that important in this age of calling your vehicles wherever and whenever you want to? To me it looks as if the TKA tree is worth more. But I was wondering what you all thought?

Thanks.

When I started Dropping Explorer and then finally scout altogether I really missed it. It's definitely a useful profession to have but the difference between Exporer1 and 0 isn't that noticeable.

If you haven't capped your defenses already then taking Precision Techniques4 is a good choice but Defense Acuity will do nothing for you unless you are fighting as a TK,ie unarmed.Even then I hear it offers the TK next to no increase in natural secondary defenses. So in short, Defense Acuity that only TK get to have not work for them.

Well, I told you once, told you twice.
I told you before.
Just 'cause I'm the bad guy, don´t mean I'm gonna lose 'em all

When I started SWG I made it halfway through the ranger profession before getting bored and starting a new toon on a different server. This new toon (my main toon now) has never had terrain negotiation. I've experienced both sides of the story and here's my take on it.

Terrain negotiation isn't necessary at all. Don't get me wrong, tn is nice if you're trying to keep up with group memberswho have it and it's nice if you're trying to run away from a critter or npc but honestly, I think it's detrimental to a player; a waste of skill points. All it does is get you into a "flight" mentality or as Monty Python would put it, "RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!" All that does is lead to more deaths. Not having terrain negotiation, you can't effectively run away. On difficult mobs it forces you into the mentallity of "do or die." Since no one likes to die you have to be more strategic, using all the skills at your disposal to avoid death. I rarely die now. Granted that may just be from almost 8 months of experience with the game but what is experience other than learning what to do and what not to do?

I still don't have terrain negotiation. I don't want terrain negotiation. It helps me in no way at all.

I've been with and without Terrain neg. and at points I did miss it. Before mounts came I clearly noticed a difference when you running out to the middle ofthe wildto hunt (Like tusken fort). Once mounts came in, I never really felt a lack in it from that point. Only time I cursed not having it is when I would be over 5k meters out from a shuttleport and my mount or swoop would auto store. But now since you can call them anywhere its not a huge deal. If you do alot of pvp in hilly areas its something to think about... so far I've only been in one or two battles were I was glad I had terrain neg. Other then that I will be dropping it again as I start to run out of points.

Mastered TKA, Commando, Marksman, Medic, Scout, Brawler, Image Designer, Combat Medic, Fencer....,
How many skills mastered for a holo? 1 : Image designer... then all was silent
How many skills will be done for FS now? Zero (Just to lazy to grind only for a chance it might be the fifth one)

I never considered Terrain Negotiation necessary... just an added benefit of having a scout-based profession, like Bounty Hunter or Ranger or CH. It's like Novice Medic. Being able to heal is NICE... but like one of the guys above said, when you have the option, you are more likely to be forced to rely on it... I dropped novice medic and never looked back, and I'm 15 points more powerful because of it.

lmao screw terrain negotation!

The attic was less to us from the cellar the bones like the attic let them have it let them stay in the attic. When they sometimes come down the stairs at night and stand perplexed behind the door and headboard of the bed brushing that chalky skull with chalky fingers with sounds like the dry rattling of a shutter. Thats what I sit up in the dark to say.

Personally, going up hills at a crawl's pace drives me nuts.

That being said, terrain negotiation isn't really needed.

In solo PvE, you really aren't going to outrun most of the beasties unless you have lots of terrain negotiation.

In team PvE, you don't need to run after creatures to maintain aggro on yourself, you can just /taunt them.

In PvP, you will get out-paced by anyone with more terrain negotiation than you and that only applies in places with hills. On even ground you will run just as fast as anyone else.

I have the points in Scout 1/0/0/0 because, honestly, I can't think of a better place to spend the points (Master Doctor/Master Fencer, next best alternative would be to get another branch in brawler which I don't think would help me much).
