I am currently a TKM and was thinking about taking up fencer for the defences... Since everything I have heard says that TKM does more dmg of the two, I wanted the fencer for not only the melee defenses, but also the dodge.... But I have heard that dodge only works while you are holding a pistol or a 1-h sword... is this true or can I use those dodge skills even when Im using my vk's or fighting unarmed?

you will still dodge some holding a VK, but not nearly as much holding a 1-handed weapon.

Everyone can Dodge, Block and CounterAttack but it's a reallysmall chance to do it andthe skill bonuses will only apply when using the weapon applicable to one of the professions that get the skill, so yes you'll only notice dodge being useful while holding either a pistol or a 1hd weapon.

As you probably know, your Defense Acuity should increase your chance to Dodge, Block and Counter Attack but it won't stack with other profession's secondaries, likea Fencers/Pistoleers Dodge, as it's a TK only ability. Not that it Def. Acuity even works.
