Thread: Armor taking effect in PvP, your thoughts?

i've heard from a couple of good sources that i trust who say that the AR of armor is going to take effect in PvP soon. Thus all the proper reductions/increases will be in taking place.

What are your thoughts on this? Currently we only have a single AP weapon as we all know and kinetic is heavily protected against. Stun may or may not remain as a layer smithies can put into some Composite (honestly i don't know).

If your not aware at how it currently works there is no AP/AR when PvP is considered as i understand it now. The adjustments don't take place instead there is about a 75% or so damage reduction (that numbers a VERY rough guess). When this goes into effect however you will see weapons with AP0 reduced by about 25% when hitting an AR1, or light armor, wearing opponent. Now keep in mind it goes the other way, if you have AR1 and are struck with an AR2 weapon you take about 25% more damage. (the number may be 50% i'm just on the fly and typing this up so i've not researched the exact number)

Initally i was upset and figured there is now no reason notto go Swordsman/Rifleman but then i thought about the armor movement reduction, the weapon movement reduction, and well... we are amazingly defensive. I think we will pull through this fine. I wish i could test this more but TC1 is shut down and everyone is out playing Jedi vs Bounty Hunter, so untill the Dev's get those bugs worked out we will just have to talk about things.

If what I'm reading is correct, if you cannot pierce AP1 now, you're already getting the reduction.

If you're already hitting AP1 now, you're not getting any bonus or penalty.

If you're piercing AP1 now, you're not getting the bonus that you should be getting, and this publish will change that.

Which means fencer are going to be a lot less popular with this upcoming patch, and swordsmen and riflemen will be a lot more popular.

Such is life.

Since when was it not taking affect? A regular gaffi still doesn't do much damage in PvP let alone against 80% kinetic.

With the vulnerability of the MIND pool swordsmen and riflemen are already immensly popular. Riflemen being the only ranged profession that has any chance of standing up to a melee profession.

They are fixing the +25% dmg that AP2 and +50% that AP3 weapons are supposed to do but don't.

For example:

Person A is wearing a suite of 80% composite armor. The armor rating of composite is AR1. If person A gets hit by a power hammer, which has AP2, it will do the initial dmg and an additional +25% damage because the powerhammer has ap2 and the composite armor only has ar1.

It's going to be even worse for those of us getting shot by T-21's. T-21's have AP3. That means that they get +50% dmg bonus against people in composite. Say a rifleman shoots me for 500 dmg with his T-21. Well since he gets the bonus he'll be doing 750 dmg.
