Sorry, if some of you already know this. I didn't...and I've been playing quite awhile now. I just want to give my fencing comrades a heads up, as I've seen lots of other melee classes complaining about this very same thing.

Mobs it seems, don't aggro based on dmg dealt but proximity. If you send you're pet in (or someone else sends theirs) then you rush and stand closer to the creature than the pet is and start attacking, chances are the creature will aggro on you. Always stand farther away from the enemy than your pet is. Standing next to and behind your pet(or towards the rear of you're pet if it's long lengthwise) seems to be optimal for avoiding aggro. I've got this working quite well, even when using just one pet gurreck. I haven't tested this out, but I willing to bet this doesn't work very well with those stupid giant rancors or grauls because they stand pretty far away when attacking. Small or Medium-sized four-legged pets, I would say (guess)are the best choice (they attack at very close ranges). If you do get aggro, and it will occasionally happen, don't run away and hit peace....that never works for me anways. To get aggro back onto your pet, take a few steps back, stop and hit peace several times. Make sure your creature is still attacking and is closer to the target than yourself...repeat if it didn't work the first time.

I haven't tested this on npcs, just a few melee creatures on dathomir. After killing about 20 creatures in this manor, about 75% didn't aggro on me. I won't count the times I got aggroed on when they were runningaway and I was chasing them. The other 20% I was able to get aggro off of me and back onto my pet rather quickly. Only once I was unable to get aggro off me. If anyone is going to try this out against npcs or in their adventures, let me know how it goes

Oh, I wasn't even using a sword while doing this. I was working on my TKA skills and using short-ranged vibroknucklers.
