Im geting my Composite Armour tonight and will let you guys know how I fair, in raw fights.

If you guys can test out others as well that would be cool, compile everything here so we know what works and what doesnt.

From what I know about armor, if the resists are high enough, its works. The best comp Ive seen is 28% on all resists. since most of the mobs i fight only do kinetic, my 30% kinetic ubese works just as well against melee and has half the encumb. Basically, from what Ive read, composite is a jack-of-all-trades armor that works against all attacks, but the trade off is that its very heavy, so your specials will use up more ham and you will heal much slower in combat. It's not exactly superior to all other armors, but it is the most versatile. I'm seriously considering buying some composite armor myself.

Did you guys see that composite made with a Krayt Dragon Armor Segment? 42% resists on everything! I want it so bad....

Hmm... wonder how many master fencers you need to take out a Krayt...

Wait, wait, 42% on *everything*? How about Acid, Stun, and fire?

You know what, scratch that. 42% on everything I looked at, and I have a bad memory for pictures. The writer posted a screenshot, search in the Discussion forum.

Are there brawlers that fight with full suits of armor and ignore specials completely?

Maybe a strategy works where you switch off in between all armor and no armor depending on situation. While you have armor equipped, use no specials.

Has anyone tried this?

Yeah, that was my old anti-creature strategy. No specials, just beserk with my curved/armor after I slap down a few status effects with my vibro/clothing.

And did it work well? Could you tank?

Yeah, it worked to a point. It used to be more efficient than special spam with my vibro, but after the 'zerk nerf I'm not sure anymore. I still use it, though.

Sorry for the delay guys,

Ok after testing, in both PvP and PvE. i have to say if you can afford the 350k that it costs to get composite armour, get it here is why.

PvP

  • Melee Def = Win if they spam. Even after the patch if someone knew what they were doing, they could still spam KD and then use a good stim B to heal up then kill ya. With Composite armour just sit back and laugh at them as they are hitting you for like 20-40 damage, then heal yourself with a good stim b. Now when it gets to the point where he can no longer spam any special, its time to go to work. If he is any good he will have his health and action at full, thinking he will be safe with that since we cannot target mind. Little does he know that we can whip out your scatter hit for the kill.

  • Bounty Hunter = Actual Hard Fight. Now after the patch thier KD became very costly, but they are adapting, and finding ways to use it at minimum costs, such as equiping a CDEF Carbine, then switching back. They still cannot spam it like Melee Def, but they can shoot at least 3-4 KD's. Bleed will be your friend in this duel, as you are going to be Kited, but that is ok find a good spot where you are out of sight and wait for him to come. If you get a Lunge/Dizzy combo on him use your scatter hit to bring down his mind, and bleed to bring down health, maybe one good hit that targets health for good measure as well.

PvE

Tested a few things here. With a good sword and not even into the second tier of Fencer I could Solo a single bobcat, greater desert womp rat, male mamiens(Yavin4), or red conned NPC's that would not kite. Just make sure you have some good stims.

I do not suggest going out and hunting them for xp though, it is still a good fight, but doesnt give all that good xp. (except the mamiens) I do suggest finding Yellow conned MOBS though, as you will be able to solo them easily, and in packs.

And as a final note I just want to point out, Fencer has the only weapon that is very effectinve against Composite armour, our Stun baton, 0% reduction everything else has 30-40%

AFAIK, the Jawa Ion Rifle does Stun Damage also.

Stun baton with Scatter Hit on armored foes isa great tip. I'm really loving this class.
