Thread: Which Level 1 Fencer Skill First?

Hey all,

I'm going to be hitting Level 1 in one of the 3 lines of fencing xp, and I'm just curious, which do you think would make the most difference at that rank. I'm sure they all have their advantages, but sometimes one just feels better over the others at first.

I had initially just planned on racing up the footwork line for spin2 and the speed modifiers, but now I'm not too worried about it, my 1.6 second speed sword seems fast enough for now.. Although spin2 would be nice.

So long question short: Scatter Hit 1, Health Hit 1, or Body Hit 2.

Scatter Hit last, no question. I took Body Hit2 first so I'd have something to pair up with lucky Hit2's that targeted the health pool. After that I took the bleed.

I went the footwork line first myself. Even with a fast sword, the speed bonuses were nice and the posture bonuses were nicer. As far as the specials go, Scatter 1 is used very little by me, body hit 2 is used quite a bit, but health hit is part of my opening when against any large creature, mob, or when in PvP.

Others have disagreed with me on this, but that's what's worked well for me.

up until 3 days ago i would have agreed but that is a great move for PvP (see my testing compsite armour post)

I'm sorry, but even if Scatter Hit is effective or even good in PvP, it's still a specialty attack and not in mainstream use. Same reason why you don't typically use a Stun Baton outside of PvP. I'm just giving him advice based on what he's most likely to be doing, killing NPC's.

Thanks for all the help. I guess I'll stick with my original plan and go down footwork until at least spin2.

I haven't done any real PvP with this character yet so I guess I'll stick with what most feel is best for PvE. But when the time comes for PvP with this character, you can bet I'll be whipping out the ol' scatter hit on my enemies.

Thanks a lot everyone, I have to say, I think the fencer community is probably the least whiny, most helpful bunch out there from my experience.
Probably because we need to work that much more for our share in game than pretty much any of the other combat oriented classes.

Holy ****.....I thought the health hit was to wound the target, not bleed it....At least that how it's described in-game. I've never used it b/c I saw no point in wounding something, unless in a big PvP fight....So health hit actually bleeds the health? That rules!

BTW, I went with footwork first (extra speed, and I want the level2 modifiers against knockdown, etc), and picked up finesse for the blind hit (rules). Should have level2 footwork tonight, then I'm going after the BodyHit2......but that's just me
