Thread: Which vibroblade would you use?

Okay, I threw Option 3 out right away. The damage is too low for *anything* but for use with high-cost specials (Like Lunge and Intimidate) and the speed is absolute garbage. I'd actually opt for Option 1 over Option 2. I typically use my vibro for laying down status-changers or killing humanoids, but that one's faster, has better damage, for IMHO a really negligible HAM increase.

Okay, I'm a weaponsmith, and I'd like input on where I should 'position' my vibroblades on the damage/HAM continuum.

I'm not a master weaponsmith or anything, so there's no need to tell me you have a better weapon. Just imagine you're in a situation where you don't have a vibro,a nd you don't have the huge wads of cash that most master WS weapons cost

Option 1: higest damage/speed

dmg: 29-122, speed: 2.8, HAM: 16/28/16

Option 2: medium

dmg: 28-96, speed: 3.4, HAM: 11/21/11

Option 3: low HAM

dmg: 19-86, speed: 3.8, HAM: 8/18/9

And when you say which you like, please let me know if it's to use as a primary damage-dealing weapon, or as a weapon just for special moves.

I would say the first one.

It has the best damage, and very little extra HAM costs. The damage/speed more than make up for the SLIGHTLY increased costs.

I would personally not use any of them, cause of the lack of damage and speed...

If you could raise the damage on Number 1, then we could slice it and pray for speed, it would be well worth the HAM. I'd buy one for 10k!

well considering all are unsliced option 1 due to naturally good speed. A slice to it in either damage or speed would take it from being a good weapon to a great one. Option 2 has possibility of a good secondary weapon if it got sliced for speed but using it for damage would not be the smartest thing to do. when using it one would have to keep in mind that their role on the battlefield is not to damage but to keep the enemy down bleeding and blind and throw in a couple body hits when needed. The third one has no speed what so ever. Sure the ham is great but when you cant get a lunge dizzy off what good are you. Its only use would be supporting other in group when you arent drawing aggro or responible for dealing the damage.

So, I remember another thread in which a couple of fencers said that avibroblade with emphasis on low HAMwould be appealing to them for use as a "sidearm" for special moved.

From the response so far, I would have to say those people were lying.

I think I might have been one of those people.

At the time, my vibroblade was not up to par with my Curved Sword on damage. But now I have a great vibro with low HAM, and I use it almost exclusively when fighting humanoids.

The message is still the same. Use a low HAM weapon with the highest DPS possible when you need to spam you specials (humanoids). And use the highest DPS weapon you have when you're armored up and fighting animals.

And to stay on topic - I'd pick blade #1. The HAM cost is not that different, and the DPS is much better.

Option 1 is the way to go. Go with as much damage and lowest speed on a vibroblade. The increase in ham is minimal.. I have one with almost the same ham.. maybe off by 1 or 2 one either.. takes 93 ham to lunge2 and around 40 for my big attacks.. The way I fight is to lunge2 whoever is attacking then spam the attacks.. If its a larger target I start with a bleed.

I wouldnt use any of them, they are all to slow. I would shop around abit more until I saw something closer to 2.0 or less.

low HAM isnt everything. fact is that every person values different values differently. To me its speed and effieceny. Your weapons contradict these values so i take the one that best fits my needes the fastest one. personally i dont care about the damage as long as its below 3.0 speed. I chose the vibro over the curve due to armor piercing and half the HAM cost. But those are my personal perferences. Not yours. To say people dont use Vibro for specials due to this test is unreasonable. The fact is that you must compare a sample vibro to sample curve to get a better test. But in truth it comes down to personally perference and mine is speed , HAM, armor piercing/ damage type, minium damage, maxium damage. Maybe that explains weapon choice a little better.
