Thread: Fencer or TKA?
Well Fencer will target the same HAM pool as pistoleer, and will give you an aditinal bleed on the Health as well. Melee Defense + Dizzy is a unbelievable combo in PvP, and PvE.
TKA can target all pools, but HAM costs on Specials are high especially thier KD's
Fencer has low HAM costs targets health and does less damage.
TKA has Meditation which is very helpful, But Fencer look cooler
and you will be one of the few that choose this great proffesion
I'm doing the Pistoleer Fencer combo, and I'm very happy with it.
The attacks compliment eachother very well - they both target Health, and pistol whip works great with fencing too
Also, the dodge bonuses you get as a pistoleer stack nicely with the fencer dodges.
Coming from pistoleer, you're probably addicted to being able to spam your combat syles for little HAM loss. Well, we get that too!
You also can't beat the fencer animations for just plain style ![]()

haha... since the game came out, i wanted to make a space pirate character, and that's exactly what i'm doing. ![]()
fencing, pistoleer, and some smuggling skills.
i'm going with pistoleer and fencer for sure, because it is well... very pirate like! besides that, both skills do comliment themselves very well, they're about speed, and style
seriously though, you get the bonuses for one handed weapons, the dodges, targets the same hams etc.
to give you some more advice though... as far as TKA goes, i'm taking it for the meditation tree only, so that i can heal my wounds, cure poisons etc. and become more self reliant. furthermore, since i'm taking the slicing branch, i have the unarmed pre-req being a smuggler, taking meditation makes sense.
sometimes i feel that being a fencer sucks, its a long long run to becoming a fencer. i see all this bounty hunters and other professions kicking ass. oh well i gets a fencer will end up paying off in the long run.

Well i decided to get to specialist in both before going on to either novice fencer or novice TKA. I chose fencer, reasons being i particularly like the moves, and a lot of the posts earlier here were right, it works very with pistoleer targets the same pools and the ham cost is low, but now i am wondering does fencer have a knockdown? if not i am cool with that i can use pistols for that. And also what are your 3 or 4 favorite moves that fencers can do?
Fencers don't have a knockdown move, but the dizzy/lunge combo is effectively the same thing. If you dizzy an opponent, then change their posture, when they try to stand back up they'll fall down. This works very well against NPCs.
Personally, I'm going for Rifleman/Fencer combo just because I want to use a bowcaster and ryyk blade. I'm going traditional Wookiee.
The only instant-knockdown move a fencer has is if they master brawler and use lunge2. Almost every time the enemy is knocked down and wont hit back for 10-15 seconds. Plus with master brawler u get intimidate 2 which is awesome once it sticks. Those 2 moves alone is pretty muchworth master brawler. My fencer kills 3k HAM enemiesusuallytaking less than 200 dmg with no armor on ![]()
