Not been a melee prof post CU but am considering going one. I think fencer is really cool and would like to go that but i enjoy pvp so is it a viable pvp template? Also do i need Specials such as Swordsman's critical hit to make fencer deal any good damage?

The template i am considering is MTK/MF/DOC 4000

the doc would give me some good healing abilities n i really want tka for innate armour. I dont really care about roots, im a ranged prof atm and it is needed to make it any good. So any advice? will this template be any good in pvp if used with good tactics?

imo, it doesn't NEED swordman, but it will certainly help.

the same way a swordsman doesn't NEED fencer - but adding fencer specials to swordsman is extremely helpful.

imo, fencer is one of the best PVP-centric professions right now.

it's the only melee prof with an action killing hit, higher dmg lunge, and a good snare.
more specifically, it's a ranged-killing profession!

i disagree.

keep cob on, after their root wears off, burst run, KD, bind, blind, and cripple them. that wll keep them in range + out of action long enough for you to kill them. (well, it should anyways!)

if you have armor break, even better.

ranged is great....until you catch'em

I would get TKA 2100 just for the power boost and the Improved (or is it advanced?) CoB.

imo swordsman is necessary because improved critical hit is so damaging and body hit is nice but doesnt hit for near as much as improved critical

I would recommend getting at least 0034 swordsman for advanced armor break and improved critical

but thats just me

I agree with the above. Get Swords 0034 and you have the best crit attack and armor break. Then get TKA 2100 so you get powerboost and Improved CoB and then master Fencer and at least take 0040 in pike for Intimidate/warcry. I would try to master Pike just to get the best version of intimidate, even if that means not mastering brawler.

I dont know if the points are there to let you build this but thats where Im heading,
TKA 2100
Sword 0034
Master Fencer
Master Pike
(cant master Brawler but will have 1 point left over. I would use for FS speed or accuracy)

This will give you powerboost for added hitpoints, Improved CoB for the best protection from the TKA line.
You have the best Armor Break and the best attack, Critical from the Swordsman line.
You have all the Fencer bonuses as you use a ROTW weapon (junta mace or the Alphabet soup sword) and all the great PvP skills like cripple and bind
You have Master Pike for the best Intimidate and Impale for a second high damage attack, only really need two high damage attack as they will recycle and you will be using other specials like CoB, lunge, etc during a fight.

(There really arent any nice looking 2Handed RoTW weapons that compare to the Junta Mace, Kashyyyk Bladed Staff and the Alphabet soup sword)

That coupled with a PSG and great RIS armor (with 350 added hitpoints and layered for energy) should make a good fighter. Not sure it is still enough to deal with a jedi (full template) 1 vs 1 though as they will heal better than a Master Doc/Master Combat Medic/Master Medic combined template.

I still find TKM/M.fencer/Doc 4/0/0/1 to be the best temp ive had....do mass dmg, have powerboost and cob and you dont need to buy armor!

and if your FS grinding you can double cap

I'm thinking doc 4004, TK 2100, Master Fencer, 0034 Swords.

Adv Armor Break, Adv Cob, Powerboost,Improved Critical Strike, and all the goodies that come with Master Fencer and buffs for healing, mind and speed.
