Thread: I still love mellee, am I all alone?

All I hear these days is "Ranged rules, riflemen FTW!!!!!!!1111111111"


Right now my toon, Fingerlickin' Good, is MFencer/MSwords/TKM and I'm loving life, especially in large scale PvP. I can tank like nobody's business, I can duel like it's cool, and I can smack some big PvE type content around (with a jedi to heal me). Basically, I'm still in love with melee combat, despite all the FOTM BH/Riflemen out there.


So basically, i'm just posting to see who still likes fencer, despite what the CU did to our defences.

No your not alone


Personally, i respec'd like most folk to fotm ranged templates, believing that to compete atall you had to be weilding a gun. However, being a player whos first mastery was fencer and stuck with it ever since, i could notbear to be away from my baton any longer


I picked up the same template as your own (MTK/M.Swords/M.Fencer), initiallyenjoying it because i was unique with practically every other player holding a ranged weapon, however, i soon realised that it was also a very effective template. I can do good damage and im a mean tank.


So, i dont think i will be dropping fencer any time soon

I love melee......i believe it takes smarter thinking and tactics then just root/kd/snare that ranged always do...and i will never go ranged ever



P.S. While that triple mastery template may seem good.....it lacks effective healing....


any other melee template with doc 4000 in it will own you

I think you should always be able to save your own ass if you're in trouble.. Plus, another medic makes for faster healing, less incaps, and better groups


I'm going for the fairly common TKM / Master Fencer/ 4/0/0/0 Doc. High defenses and healing. Yay.

True, but I almost never head out with at least 1 jedi in the group these days. Doc's cool and all but I'd rather trow my skills into combat oriented boxes and let someone else worry about healing.

You are not alone. I am a Fencer, and I'll stay one. I briefly respecced to Pikeman, considered going Commando (no way without going double elite combat prof) but reverted back to my Fencer/Chef template because...well...I don't know, I just like it more. Don't care if there are professions doing more damage, someone has to get close and his hands dirty.
