I was going back to do some research on Raphayl to use in writing up a storyline submission regarding the sword of remembrance for her, and realized to my astonishment that her first post was in responce to one of my posts as Correspondent back in August of 03'. It really displayed her thoughtfulness and complimentary nature... and because of that I wanted to share it with those of you who might not have been around for it.
For those of you who don't know Raphayl is no longer with us. She passed away taken to whatever better state that lies beyond this one.
Without further ado originally posted the same day she first arrived in our community.

1. I find it unusual that a Master Brawler should be able to lunge with a 1-handed sword better than a Master Fencer. Yet a Master Brawler gets /melee1hlunge2 and a Master Fencer is limited to /melee1hlunge1. If anything I would tend to belive that should be the other way around. However, I do not wish to detract from the Master Brawler's abilities. Could we consider at least adding /melee1hlunge2 somewhere in the Fencer profession? Possibly even a /melee1hlunge3 for being a Master Fencer?
2. I second the notion that coming to a screeching halt when running for your life to perform a Dodge or Autodefend, and then standing there as if rooted to the ground is extremely aggravating.
3. If ranged attackers can fire their weapons as they flee or chase, melee should be able to at the very least be able to swing at a target in front of them while in pursuit without having to come to a complete halt.
4. If a melee is running to engage a firing stationary ranged combatant, the melee will have taken severe losses by the time the target is reached. On the real life combat field this happens as well. However there is an additional factor in favor of the melee once they reach their target... momentum of the charge. Could we consider the possibility of making the first attack an automatic "charge" attack if the melee was already running with /attack on and suddenly stops to make the initial swing at a stationary target? Perhaps on the scale of one of the /melee1hhitX manuevers, but with a lower HAM cost to compensate for the "situationality" of the attack. This could help to even the scales a bit once we finally get to our target.
5. I also like the idea of adding more variety to both the types of swords in the game, or at least variable/customizable appearances. As for the swirling red action lines could go either way... but I'd like the ability to turn them off. Too many melee in close quarters all making red twirlies could make it hard to see what's going on.
6. I also like the idea of a "sheathed" appearance for an inactive sword. Perhaps a sheath could be something a tailor could create, with both hip and back versions. I imagine it would act as another small container, but only for swords. If you put a sword in your normal storage it is gone form view as it is now. If you put your sword in your sheath container it shows up in the graphic as sheathed. Asthetics aside, this has the added benefit of helping you locate your primary sword if you happen to have several similar ones in your inventory. Not only could this work for Fencers, but I'm sure Pistoleers and such might appreciate holsters that work similarly.
That's all I can think of for now. I sincerely appreciate the commitment and service you are providing for this community.

A good friend, and a leader for the fencer community.... I remember her, and will never forget what she has done not just for us, but for the entire game.
