Thread: Changes to Fencer from Retail to present?

lol, yeah, I know it's a big request, but I came back a couple weeks ago to SWG after quitting about a month after SWG's release, so I was wondering what's up with my favorite class.
When I log on, search for Fencer...and I see like 10 around on me on Dantooine, 3 of whom are Master, and the rest but one have Master in one of the tiers. What gives? Did Fencer get super buff fixed or something over the course of the year? I used to have a hard time finding 3 Masters on the whole server. >_< (Or is this all the Fencers on the whole server? lol)

Actually alot of good changes happened to Fencer.
CoB was the primary one, Melee Defense Mods increased and Melee Damage Mitigation was added.
And untill the Template stackers got a hold of it and blew it out of proportion stacking 200+ Dodge and near 200 Melee Defense we were gods with just some minor stacking (most common was TKA 4004, still arguably the most common.)
Then everyone got hit with the Soft Cap of 125 to Melee/Ranged Defense max.
And I'm still working over some numbers but I'm pretty sure that mods that should go above the soft cap actually subtract (bug).
Now we're the most second most common Template Support due to our State and Melee Defenses. But reletivly few PVP'rs use Fencer as Primary...
Oh and there was a time before people wised up to Armor stacking thru PSG's and Stun Comp when our Stun baton was the most used PVP weapon there was. Oh well part of that was the introduction of a new type of PSG.
Most of the above was brought about by Hologrinders who were told to Master Fencer and "found out" how cool it was (however brief that lasted.)
Now we're on the decline again.
Alot changed... alot of it good... some of it bad.

I feel ya Haschel, I was first master on my server and was one of the very very few till the hologrind came out and out revamp. I never dropped master and am some what saddened by people that only do it for the great Pvp advantage (FOTM as they are called). Stay with it and be proud that you opened up your game instructions and randomly picked a proffesion and stuck with it, i know i am.

I just started Fencer and I think its great. It has added a new Role Play alternative to SWG. I might even go ahead and do some Sword. All in all im having fun with it so far. It seems to be balanced and with the right gear its really fun with almost any class ( scout, Tka , Pistol, CH ).
As for how it has evolved, I wouldnt really know, except that it has been nerfed due to the increase of STUN RESISTANCE ARMOURS AND ITEMS.

(Late follow-up, just got back from Otakon ;X)
Interesting. From skimming a few of the bigger topics on the forum, it seems that we're kinda gimpy in terms of PvP, which sucks, since I used to rather enjoy PvP in this game. And yet, we're also not terribly useful for high end PvE because we're not really capable of tanking stuff like Corvette or DWB, and we don't have the damage to bust through defenses or the types of damage to get around resistance. Does this mean that my primary role on raids like these is just to play medic? =/ (My template's in my sig, I'm pretty much locked in right now, 0/250 SP left. Hope I'm not gonna be too hurt not having MB...)
