When I think of fencer I think of precision. Fencing in RL is definitely such a profesison. Granted SWG has never been too good with sticking to moderately realistic conditions, butI feel that this point is worth emphasizing... Fencers should get precision attacks; that is attacks that can focus to health, action, or mind (body, legs, or head).

Fencer as a term is merely a moniker. Do not be distracted by nomenclature.

This is Star Wars. This isn't real life. The history of fencing has no real bearing on Star Wars fencing (much as most military practices and training are a far cry from the Star Wars examples, or even physics itself).

While real life fencing is an excellent reference point, the goal is not to adhere to that particular historical interpretation of fencing or swordplay.

That being said, I agree with you. I would like to see some more unique stylistic interpretations of our professions. At this time, we're very similar to any other melee profession. The upcoming combat rebalance should be a fairly inclusive overhaul of even the basic combat structure. Perhaps we will achieve an identity other than "one handed melee."
