I have a gadfi 187 min - 440 max and i find myself only hitting for 250ish damage against and unarmored opponent in pvp.Is this decent I have no idea.

What was the toughness of the person you were attacking? Did they have a PSG? What did your combat spam report as damage? What were the floating numbers? What's the condition of the Gaffi? Was that a normal attack or a special?
As you can see there are many variables that determine how much damage you do against an opponent in PvP. I believe there is a 75% reduction in damage for PvP, but that may have changed since I left and returned. We'll need more information to give you a precise answer, but those numbers don't indicate a problem to me, at this point.

1) check the condition of it. if its at half condition or lower, damage output will be cut off.
2) was he wearing kinetic resist armor? even a strong gaffi will do not much against 90% composite armor
3) psg's are irrelavint. they dont stop kinetic damage.
4) 75% in pvp. remember that. your damage output in pve will never be as high in pvp.
5) what was his templete do you know? your going to do less against a tkm then against a rifleman (tkm have alot more melee mods then rifleman of course)
6) he might of been using foods. synsteak gives 45% damage reduction for 33 (roughly) hits
