Thread: requesting help from those who have been there. please read for the sake of a struggling fencer.
hello,
my name is Alra Haboden a Bothan. And i'm on the flurry server. I have camopleted 1/2 of the master one-hand step, and have exploring 1. I have read many post and gotten many good ideas. I have desided that armor is not an option, seeing how i fell the costs out weight to perks. I currently weild a ryyk blade 48-132 3.2 delay-15/-15/-15. I feel that this weapons isgreatly flawed, however everyone has great things to say about them. perhapsit is only this paticular wepon. I have considered many optionsas what wepon topick ,sword, vibro blade, ryyk, all appaer to be grand however advice may help to eliminate a few of these chioces. Stat mitigation tips will help as well. i have read other stat mitigation thredns but none focus on my race. so my request from one fencer to anotheris, (1) wepon advice: whathas worked for you, were did you get your wepon, and if need be can you provideaname for me to reach that person. (2) stat mitigation tips for a Bothan. p.s. priceses for the weapons matters not , i can and will raise the creds that would be need if one of you would be will ing to sell a wepon to me, have said that please be fair in pricing. Thank you for reading this and responces will be greatly appricated.
Speed and HAM costis really what you'll want in a Fencing weapon. That way, the negatives to your armor are greatly reduced. When it comes to specials, Action seems to drain the most. But you're a Bothan, which helps a lot. I should've been one, hehe.
do yourself a favor and drop that hunk of metal you call a sword, and contract a master smith to make you a pimpin curved sword, AND vibro blade. Also hire a master smuggler to slice both of them. spend a lot of money on these, you'll make it back ![]()
I typically use the vibro blade to start, by using lunge, and dizzy. once they are on their backs, pull out the curved and go to town. If they get back up, switch to the vibro and spam lunge until they fall over again. then back to the curved. Of course this is all contingent on the armor of the target you are fighting, use the vibro if htey have heavy kinetic and armor level.
stat migration, well, im a human, and have gone to 850/500/500 850/450/450 750/550/500
ive also taken medic. I have set of 30% kinetic ubese armor, and i dont have the helmet for the armor. but i only use that when im in trouble, or im fighting a tusken raider or stormtrooper, or any similar red. The focus will help a lot with stimpacks, and the strength and quickness with reducing ham costs for lunge.. that one is the real culprit, especially the mind cost. 550 helps reduce it to 60 per lunge now, (with vibro) as opposed to 121 with curved and 400 focus..
once the lunge nerf hits, ill probably migrate some points away from focus, either into willpower or quickness.
My curved blade is 86-191, it's sliced down to 2.5 (not the greatest but it does fine)and the ham is 31 60 39. I found the Vibroblade to be pretty effective (and if you are invited to a BBQ, all you need to bring is that thing and some A-1 sauce, cuz it's a glorified steak knife) because of the low HAM cost. If you are a scout and bind the /examine command to a keyboard shortcut you can see what mobs have armor and where the vibro is the most effective.
If you are just starting out, keep your Pistol Specialist, Advanced Ranged Weapon Support (for Warning Shot) and an FWG5 handy for those pinch situations where you need to run. Nothing like a blaster and warning shot while running for it to get out of a tight situation.
Messing extensively with stat migration I find is a must. You need an efficient mind pool, and if you have medic, stamina regen isn't as important as efficiency, so put some into Quickness. Your mind pool needs good regen and good efficiency -- I find I'm almost never dying to Health, but if I reduce it too much I can't wear my Ubese armor on Lok.
That leads me to the theory on armor. I wear everything except the hat, and I have macros set up to put my armor on, and then take it off again and wear normal clothes so my mind regen efficiency is maxed. And it DOES make a huge difference. I've watched the amount of damage getting absorbed in the combat window, and the duration which I can last against a blue-con on Lok is DRASTICALLY worse when I'm not wearing armor. My damage output with the curved sword is great. It's all in your stat migration and how you organize it and the only thing I can suggest is experiment.
Some armor is better than none -- but don't even THINK of wearing a helmet, the mind cost ranges from 140 to 280 from what I've seen. I keep a chittin helmet I wear by itself when closing on a sniper. Your damage output will still be high but your HAM cost will be a little worse. In a hunting group with a medic you can be a really effective tank with a set of Ubese armor (about 30K for a whole set and 20% effective against kinetic), just pummel the mob with knockdown moves, and keep on going.
Stat migration! Very important ![]()
I am a Bothan Fencer. ![]()
First...Shop around for weapons. Rykk blades have the potential of being better then curved swords in the raw Damage per delay. However they are heavy on HAM usage.
2) Get a full suit of Chitin. Preferably with greater then 20% resists. You don't want to wear it all the time, so create yourself an amrour Macro that will equip/remove your armor with one key. (though you will be left in your shorts unless you make two marcos.)
3) Mind your mind. Since you can not heal this while fighting it will be your limiting factor for doing specials. When fighting in large groups, with doctors, you don't need to worry about health and action. That is their job ![]()
4) Use the right tool for the right job. If I am going to be in a prolonged battle taking out mutiple targets before resting, I use my Heavy Rykk just go to town with its nataural DPS. This way you can also wear your Armor since you won't be specailing. If I am fighting single creature, then I use my Vibro blade and take them down in two or three hits. The Stun Baton is to be used against Armored Humoniod targets.
5) Pick up a pistol to chase down those that run away from you
They are fast and they also target Health.
