I'm a fencer/ch and t's a great combo. I love to be in there fighting the mobs and creatures alongside my boys. Another bonus to the combo is you are always in range to heal your pet if it starts getting low.

I'm a Fencer and CH too and agree that it's a fantastic combo. I find the whole melee thing to be a lot more interesting than standing a pointing a gun. Although I'll probably suffer in PvP.

I've been thinking of dropping my rifle 4 to mster scout and grab a few boxes on the Ranger tree, but not sure if having no ranged combat would be a bad idea...

I'm a master CH and surrendered pistoleer 2 boxes from master to go fencer instead.

I would say it depends on what your looking for in your char. Pistoleer/CH combo would without doubt be the most powerfull choice of the three. However I'm having much more fun with my fencer than my pistoleer. If you dont mind being a little gimped (melee really need some help!) I would say go fencer. You can take on a lot harder mobs as pistoleer since you don't have to stand on top of the mobs you won't get aggro often. Expect to die a lot as a fencer

Janie's got a gun. So does Joe, Billy, Jena, Fred, and... no wait, what the hell is that? He just pulled a... well, I'd have to say that's a sword, Bob, a SWORD from his trenchcoat!

Why Fencer Rocks, and How To Mix It Up

If you want to stand out from the norm and seriously impress people (including yourself), grab a curved sword, vibroblade and a suit of Ubese armor (toss the helmet in the bank). Get Medic and Pharmacology IV, Master Scout. Now you can decide what to do with the remaining points. Climbing the fencing tree takes a long time, so for a while you can climb the ranger tree, mess around with artisan, or sling a carbine over your shoulder for some backup against a rebel or imperial enemy.

Now some people will say that I shouldn't suggest wearing armor and as you climb the defensive tree you'll need it less. But if you have scouting ability, you can read your enemy quickly by binding a key on your keyboard to the /examine command and decide whether the situation calls for some armor. My armor has reduced my HAM loss rate by up to 2/3 in some cases. If you hotkey a robe which, when worn, quickly strips off most of your armor, and another hotkey that puts armor on, you can switch between the two with relative ease (even during combat). Often I'll wear armor and charge in, and before the last enemy is dead strip it off so my mind starts to regen while fighting.

Give yourself a fat Mind and Stamina bar, and get that Pharmacology up to level IV! This allows you to use Stimpack C's for big heals, which allows you to tank like a pro! There's a common misconception that First Aid is where you should spend your medical points but you don't even need it to be effective. Now crank up all three bars in your Mind pool so your efficiency AND regeneration is good, then drop your Constitution (health regeneration rate) and Stamina (Action regeneration rate) as low as they can go. You don't need them because you'll heal fast and efficiently with your medical skills and the nice stimpacks you'll be buying in the bazaar.

Get a pet from a creature handler. A non-creature handler can use up to level 15 in most cases, and it's nice to have a friend tank a mob that you're not on for a while. As a Scout (master is better) you'll have a decent camp, and you can take up the Ranger survival line if you want advanced features like a chemical crafting station. The point here is that camps help you heal up faster, and ward off some aggressive enemies! There's also NOTHING like having Mask Scent and walking right up to an aggressive then nailing it with a surprise attack.

When you get with a pistoleer or rifleman with suppression fire, it's a great combination. Most NPC's will switch to a melee weapon if cornered, and if they're flat out on the ground you have all the advantage. Plus you can tank, taunt and intimidate which slows down attacks and gets the enemy's attention on you instead of on that weak Master Dancer friend you brought along.

PVP? Yeah, without a good ranged weapon skill it's going to be hard, but if you can get anyone close while they are firing off their rifle, healing while you close on them, knock them down and you've got them. They better run and switch to a carbine. I think there's some fun to be had here no matter what you do. But as a fencer, you'll always do it in style!

Last tip -- buy some really great looking clothing and change it from time to time. The Master Healer's robe looks great, as does some of the casual stuff, and your mind will heal better and you'll fight more effectively. Just my opinion!

Woah, woah, woah! Get rid of some of that health and action there, you're gonna want a lot more mind, and a lot more in the focus and willpower stats (as I assume judging by those stats that the others aren't very high either). Action & Health can be healed during battle, mind cannot, so you want to have a lot of mind for your specials seeing as you'll be right up next to the monster during the fight. I'm sure once you start fighting like a fencer, you'll find a stat migration to suit you best. It took me days to figure out exactly how to put it, and my advice for finalizing that is just see what bars go down most of the time and see which ones don't, and see what you end up needing more than other stats and then raise those and lower the others.
