Okay im a master fencer, and ive got a really good version of each of these weapons. After a lot of hunting, I have to say the Vblade is much better.

Ryyks do more Damage per second, no question. However Ryyks, have MUCH higher HAM costs. Plus because they are so fast, you really kill yourself incredibly fast. Even having a medic doesn't help you heal the mind damage.

However Vblades can have VERY low HAM costs. This is preferable for a tanking class. This means your mind pool will not drain in 10 seconds. Now you can actually have long battles because a medic can heal your damage (Health) instead of just suiciding on your blade.

Additionally I recommend having an equal sized mind pool as health pool. High focus and will are also really useufll (I have mine maxed). Because no one can heal your mind damage, the only way to affect it is to increase your mind HAM stats.

I tend to agree with you about this as do most fencers. I will eventually replace my rykk blade with a vibroblade once I can find a VB with damage and speed that impresses me.

What are the stats on your VB?

I just bought a VB after a Ryyk reapir incident last week.

Stats are

Damage; 55-182 (sliced up from 49-149)

Speed; 2.6

Wound chance; 24.1%

Range mods +4

HAM; 27/39/27

Its built with an advanced Vibro Unit, thats why the HAM is a bit high. Still its a nice weapon and I last much longer in combat than with the Ryyk. I need a higher damage weapon for HealthHit though, hmmm.

penday. Check out mar'qued on naboo near theed on corbantis server. He got his stock ones down to 2.5 speed 16/28/16 HAM 30 -138 damage i think. a speed or damage slice would make those dangerous. He had sevaral in stock last night when i went to pick up a stun baton to use until the more advanced ones can be made.

My Virbo is about the same as the Shado posts. Low HAM, 2.6 speed and 30-130 or something like that.

I dont think it is sliced yet but I will get around to doing that.

When I need to tank, and do special moves, the Vibro wins hands down. When I just want to slice crap up and not do specials, I use the curved sword I have. Better than most Ryyks I have seen.

It all realy depends on you luck of weapons Smith. Keep in mind that the Rykk and Vibro blade are at the same level to craft, and for the most part they are equal. Some Rykks will be better then some VBs, and vice versa. Also which you use depends on what/how you want to fight.

I got a Rykk that got sliced down to 1.9 speed. At my level, I see consistant hits for 300 to 400 points base damage about every second. It is a bit less damage rate then using my VB and specails, but I don't loose any Mind. Right now I start with a lunge/Dizzy with the VB, Switch to Rykk, Bleed, then put my armor on when they stand up. If I am Hunting creatures then its just suit up and let the Rykk swing.

I don't care about HAM costs on a Rykk. Since I will use maybe one or two specails per fight with the Rykk (lead with a bleed, and maybe a healthhit at the end for a quick finish)

Like all other combat professions, Each weapon has it use for different styles and situations. The fact that there are constant debates on Rykk v. VB is a sign (to me) that the Devs succeeded in not making the one uber weapon.

I'll have to message him, I dont want to travel to theed and go all the way to the coast of naboo if he is sold out. I did that once before with this particular smith and found that he only had long vibro axes with terrible stats extremely over priced (was a pikeman at the time)

I agree completely about vibroblades. Just on the basis of HAM costs, I always start a fight with the vibroblade. On Eclipse, you can get very good vibroblades from Sredna, Dominous, Witoubo, Remirez, Animaland several others. Sliced, these blades are under 2.0 speed with 130ish top damage. I really only use the Ryyk or the curved sword now when I amhave depletedHAM bars,or am not going to use specials and the opponent is unarmored. I tend to use the advanced vibro instead for armored opponents.

Vblade is better cause it's AP1 and it's low ham. I use a 200 damage 2.6 speed one, with low ham costs (non adv core). The AP is good enough to make it > than any other 1h.

I use a Curved Sword with 2.3s 79-206dmg. The mind ham costs can get preety steep sometimes but with my focus and mind jacked up its not a problem specially when a battle shouldnt take much from you. One Lunge2/dizzy and unload on what you think works best. Warcry2 and Intimidate2 make a mob preety useless. Try that and see how it works higher ham weapons shouldnt be a problem

I dont get why you would care about higher ham costs..

if the Rykorr blade is beter , why not use it?

Just a tip so you dont need to worry about Ham Costs , ask a local Chef to make you Rythcate tell them to Experiment them to +400 str quickness and focus for 512 seconds

then eat 2 at a time , you will get +800 and that means ham costs are like 12 even if they use to be 400
