Thread: Stacking special attacks?
My brother and I are both fencers. Is it a waste of time for both of us to Blind, Bleed, Dizzy, etc. or do those attacks stack up?
When I fight Giant Dalyrakes, I sometimes get the "You have sustained more poison!" message, so I'm hoping the "same" special attack from two different sources stacks...
If anyone knows for sure, thanks. ![]()

In general, any effect produced by an attack of a different name will stack.
In some instances, the effects are obvious and noticeable. For example, bleeding. Any bleeding effect created byan attack of a different name will stack. HealthShot1 stacks with HealthShot2, which stacks with HealthHit1, which stacks with HealthHit2. It's abvious to see because when the bleed "hits" you see the amount of the bleed float up in red letters above the target. Approximately once every 15 seconds from the time of the attack that contained the bleeding effect you will seenumbers equal to the initial bleed attack damage pop up. If you performed 4 different bleeding attacks, each with a different name, you will see 4 different numbers up.
However, attacks of the same name do not stack with each other... mostly. I'll use HealthHit1 as an example. Let's say you do a HealthHit 1 and it hits for 400 damage. That means, barring First Aid, once every 15 seconds the target will lose 400 health. Let's say you felt you could have done better, and swing with a second HealthHit1, and this one only hits for 300. The INITIAL 300 damage from the attack DOES get applied, but since the hit value is less than the 400 bleed of the same name already in effect, the bleeding stays at 400 per cycle and the bleed timer stays intact. Really dissappointed with this swing, you take a third crack at it, and hit for 500. The 500 damage of the attack immediately gets applied, as before, but now the bleed timer (it only lasts so long) has been reset, and the bleed value will be raised to 500 per cycle.
If a bleed attack with another name is used, it is on its own completely separate timer and cycle value and has nothing to do with the other named bleed effect. The game engine treats them as two completely separate effects.
Ok, now some effects are not so easy to see how they stack. For example Blind and Dizzy. )Disclaimer: I parsed this once, but since things change I want to check this again before I place too much stock in this. I'll get back to you if I find the results have changed.) Again, any effect form an attack of a different name is considered a different effect... even if the effect is basically identical. Blind1 and Blind2 (the AoE version)do stack. Each one applies the negative modifiers for being Blind to the target, adding up to a nifty penalty. In initial parses, checking between the same standard target Not Blinded, Blinded with Blind1, Blinded with Blind2, and Blinded with Blind1 and Blind2 these were the results. Not Blinded was the baseline. Regardless of whether Blind1 or Blind2 was used alone the number of misses seemed to raise by the same amount, and last about the same amount of time. However, when used together the number of missed raised by approximately twice thepercent as a single Blind effect. The duration didn't seem to change.
I did not get the change to check the same with Dizzy, but if it works with the same engine (can't see them writing a new one just for that effect, but who knows) then it should follow suit. My guess is that the timer stays the same, but perhaps your change of falling when performing a posture change increases. /shrug I can't say for sure there.
***Anyhow, I hope I helped a little. Sorry I didn't have the complete story for every effect yet, but I'll try to do it when I get some free time. ![]()

a good question
i would also like to know since health Shot 1 and 2 stack do they also stack with health Hit 1 and 2?
