I have been contemplating getting rid of my Master CH crutch and picking up TKA, Swordsman and Pikeman lines (as well as medic). Anyway, my question about defenses is this:

I assume that Ranged and Melee Defenses stack, but what about the Def. vs States? Also, since Swordsman get Counterattack, would I be able to counterattack without a 2-Handed weapon? Or block without a polearm?

I know that there have been many defense stacking questions out there, I tried doing a search of the forum (HA!!! That is VERY useful!) and decided to just post my own question. If you guys can find it in your heart to answer me, then I would gladly give you all roses in-game!

i'm 90% certain they do stack. the non-stackable ones (if i'm correct) are the one-handed toughness, one-handed etc. anything that stipulates a certain weapon should only be in effect when you use that weapon.

If it doesn't say One Handed, Unarmed, 2 handed.. or anything else that makes it weapon specific they all fall into a generic pool, which is why you can block with your barehands even though its under polearm if you just got the first mod in it.
