This has been address (kinda half heartedly) in previous posts, but I am searching for a more 'definitive' assessment when it comes to stat migration, armor use, and our insane HAM costs.

I'm hoping someone has a reference link that would provide info on these topics. Particularly my conundrum is, which stats, secondary or primary should be maxed when wearing armor. Or is a balance of statsbetter? Without the armor, I tend to prefermoderate primaries and higher strength and quickness, because I have decent medic skills. (Don't need to depend on regeneration because ofmedic skills, and the higher strength and quickness help to minimize HAM costs). Composite however, eats away those secondaries into the negative numbers (not sure what that means actually). Is it better in this case to keep the secondaries as low as possible (cuz the armor makes em almost nil- I don't see how 150-200 points of strength can help that much) and max out your primaries?

This question helps to decide which slice you go for on your composite. If we assume that 150-200 secondaries are worthless, then a slice for protection would be the best option. If not, and saving 50-100 points in secondaries will make a difference, then slicing forencumbrence will be the way to go.

In a way, this may be better suited to an armorsmith forum, BUT I truly feel that they have little understandingof our unique needs as Fencers/melee.

I'm hoping to be able to tease all this out - I'm trying to 'formulate' a plan to maximize armor for melee use.

I guess the great thing about having a personal armorsmith is that you can tell him exactly what you are looking for. Mine made me a composite helm with 189 mind encumbrance. You don't even want to know what I gave for it. Anyway... I dont understand half of what you are trying to say so I'll just tell ya what I do and then everyone can experiment from there. I'm not one much for fine tuning every aspect of my fighting abilities.

Imigrated my health and action down to below 900 each because the armor makes those bars last so much longer and I can heal those stats and have them buffed as well. All health and action secondaries are in the +400 range. Obviously, the secondaries are the more important stats to improve to be able to wear most any armor. My focus and willpower are up there too. Focus is about 450 and willpower was at 800 for a while but I believe I turned it down a little.

Sorry I still dont have exact numbers. I've been busy collecting some great hides the past few days. I will try to get them and post them here.

Basically what I did was add up the total ham cost of every piece of armor and migrate my stats accordingly, trusting that the armor will make up for low health and action. It worked!

That was on my first suit though and that sucker had some crazy encumbrances. My second suit had all around better ham stats and was totally unsliced. I've since then had it sliced and got lucky. Only 2 pieces of the entire suit got hit for effectiveness. The rest were all encumbrance. Then, my armor buddy told me that he was slicing a new batch of helms and asked me if I wanted one for cheap if he got a good slice on it. I said of course and he did. This helm could easily bring 100k on Shadowfire. I got it for 20k.

I also informed him yesterday that I would like a full suit of every kind of armor so that I may try them all out and see what works best different situations. Plus they will look cool in my walk-in closet.

Hi Ryo,

I happen to have an armorsmith who will make things to my specs as well- but I need to know *what* I want, before I can ask for it.

You need to be more specific about what you don't understand - my concerns aren't with my ability to wear the armor. My concerns revolve around the fact that composite reduces secondary stats SO significantly, that I wonder whether pumping up those stats so that you have secondaries of 200-300 while wearing the armor (which means increasing secondary stats to 700+ and having that armor sliced for HAM cost), isthe best option - OR if it's better simply to have almost no secondaries, (and by that I mean, start with a base of 400, and wearing armor will reduce those to like 30 or 40) ...pump up your primaries to max, (1000+) and use armor that has the highest protections, and is sliced to get max protection.

Lets assume we have no healing skills also.... I engage in a lot of dueling, and healing isnt usually part of the agreement...

always have strength and quickness at max no whether or not you are wearing armor

it is worth it to have those as high as possible

as far as stamina and constitution not really, just have them as low as you can and still be able to wear your armor

put your mind stats (all 3 of them) all the way up and get your other stats buffed

also buy a crate or two of muon gold its wonderful for the mind
