Thread: Info from our Combat Dev
I need to phrase this carefully, so I don't mislead anyone. I was chatting with the Developer responcible for the Fencer profession (among his numberous other responcibilities) and he revealed a few things. As you know I am limited in what I am allowed to relay hereso no one gets upset if certain concepts in-work don't make it into the game.
I requested (changed the setting on my butterknife from "massage" to "kill alot" and threatened to poke him in the ribs) to be able to let my family here on this forum know at least one tidbit ofthe good news, and he consented. This is what i can tell you:
Some adverse anomalieshave been discovered in the Fencer "non-counterattack" defenses (like Dodge and such), and are being investigated to find the best solution.
Disclaimer: This is my wording of what he relayed, not a quote. So if I screwed it up it's my fault, and not his.
This information, although a bit cryptic (I'm sorry for that) is great news! You know how we all knew Dodge never seemed to work like we thought it should? Apparently, it isn't working like the Devs think it should either. Hope is on the horizon for that to be repaired! No specificdate was given, other than he is very busy trying to address a bunch of things for combat professions, and as such we should NOT expect it in the next patch, but it is coming. The changes he discussedimplimenting may need to come over a stretch of patches to ease the impact. He said some other stuff I can't relay, but it's all good news!
In short: Do not give up on Fencers! Our day is approaching.

i can't beat pink smock boy and his confetti battery, but i can say "hell yeah." i almost wish no one else ever becomes a fencer. let's be an elitist snobbish group, the proudly hidden strength of the melee professions.

I wonder if the 'anomalies' apply to all classes with skills like that, or just Fencers.

In PvE the other day, I dizzy/lunged an NPC. And he fell over. Laying on his back and incapable of moving. and HaHa, wouldn't you know it, he dodged one of my attacks. I would say this is one HUGE anomoly. Hehe..
Thank you very much. Now I think anyone who is a fencer could certainly vouch for the existence of "anomolies" in the dodge and counter-attack. To whit, they do not work. What I am cheered to learn is that they finally understand that and are inclined to do something about it. I have been playing a pistoleer while most of my PA-members are off playing the new EQ add-on, The contrast in dodge frequency is very noticeable. At novice pistoleer (with no other trains in pistoleer at all) dodges more in aweekend than my master fencer has full stop.
I am guessing that you have an NDA?
Everyone don't say anything about how good we are. Make your title "Novice Brawler" so they won't know what killed them in 1.5 seconds, don't worry, they won't have time to see what weapon you are holding before the clone activation occours!
Hahaha, can't wait till fencer does more damage than TKA! (than I will be able to use fencer in PvP, and not just TKA)

P.S. Raphayl, Could ask them to check and make sure that the pistol and fencer Dodge stack when they are fixing fencer's dodge?
