I'm new to the Fencer profession (by choice -- new character, not holocron) and haven't experienced much of the in-game aspects of it yet, but I've read up on it a lot. I practice swordplay in real life, and love the idea of playing a Fencer in game.

If I were to suggest anything get added to our profession, it's not dual blades or shields, or even speed mods on daggers. What I think would be the best change is to add "stances" for us to use.

For example, DefensiveStance1 (@Novice) and DefensiveStance2 (@FW3), and OffensiveStance1 (@FW1) and OffensiveStance2 (@Master). (You always learn defense before offense.)

These would count as posture changes, but could only be done while standing. While in a DefensiveStance, your weight is back, you tip is up, your off arm is to the side, your offensive arm is close to your body. In Game terms, we get an extra +something (10-20?) to Defense and Dodge, and a -5 or so to speed. In an OffensiveStance, your weight is forward, your tip is forward, your off arm is in front of your body, and your offensive arm is lowered slightly. In Game terms, we'd get an extra +something to speed and accuracy, and get a -5 or so to Defense.

This falls in very well with how fencers fight, and would give us a little extra "coolness" without overpowering us.

My only problem with the above is that it may make sense to only affect melee, as a quicker parry still won't help you against that laser. If that is the case, then I doubt many people would bother to use it, as so many people are focused on PVP, and so many PVPers are focused on guns.

Well, there's my contribution. Let me know what you think.

wow, this sounds like great fun! i would love to have stances, and i agree: they should only affect melee attacks.

Center of Being sounds similar to your idea, but i would like more diversity. it would essentially be taking Center of Being and giving different variations of it, kinda mixing it with Berserk, etc.

basically this will make berserk workable if they move it higher up and let us to specials while in this stance.

i like it.

I would say that that sounds so great that I would need to recommend it to the Devs as a Melee Profession ability...

I would... but...you see.... because....uber....good thing.... grrr...... darn NDA!
