Thread: Vibroblade or Gaffi Stick

I know the gaffi has higher min and max damage, but no AP.
How does the Vibroblade compare to that?
My friend's gaffi stick: 3.4 sp, 113-223 dmg AP0, HAM: I don't remember
My vibroblade: 2.8sp, 71-191 dmg, AP1, HAM: 11/22/11
I'm not very good with the AP vs AR thingy - can someone illustrate to me why one is better than the other? I think I see more gaffi sticks than I do vibroblades, but I guess it always seemed to me that vibro's would be the way to go cuz of the AP1 (and the sound effect is MUCH cooler)...

Its horses for courses.
if you want to take ona creature, with no armor I would go for a gaffi, Its the best for overall damage.
if fighting something with armor, a stun batton would be better.
If they have some stun resists though the stun batton will be useless, so I would go for a the vibroblade for its AP.

few things first....number one: your friend has a very good vibroblade, and a not so good gaffi stick..gaffi sticks should easily run 250+
number 2: why not use every weapon...each weapon is perfect for a situation.......if they are wearing any armor, stun baton all the way......if u have footwork4 and can swing fast, gaffi stick rules..........if u are leveling up, i like vibroblades.....vibro's also come in handy ifI am dueling, and have taken a big hit and have little ham left for specials....i pull out my vibro and go to work
so use all 3

First, you're comparing a sliced Vibro vs an unsliced Gaffi. Slice the gaffi and see what you get.
Vibro blades do 125% damage vs opponents with an armor rating of None, putting the average damage of both of these vs a AC0 opponent pretty close - gaff still has an edge. Check your speed modifier, look up the delay on your favorite special skills and figure out your damage per second.
(Weapon Speed * Special Attack Delay) * (100 - Speed modifier) = Attacks per second.
APS * average damage = damage per second.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I remember the HAM costs for the gaffi stick to be much higher than my vibroblade. Since my job mainly has been to survive the long-haul in PvE (working your way through 9k ham, etc), I think the vibro is the way to go to conserve HAM and kill more, longer.
I'll look into the gaffi, but I coulda sworn the ham was MUCH higher...like 30/50/30 vs 11/22/11 for my vibro.

are there any fencer weapons that dont run you the risk of draining your own hams......more than the opposing players???????? one pool if not more than one pool drains 
can we get new weapons or at least fix the ones we have please

Lol, yeah right, you think fencing is bad try a carbineer or a pikeman...thats so funny. Fencers complaining about it, what do fencers really have to complain about compared to other classes, lmao.

JediMasterLarge I find fencer to have less of a problem in ham costs than tka for a dosh, the dosh action secondaries are very low and that happens to be the main pool hit in tka But the gaffi hits health most and the dosh is very strong there, my secondaries are like this: min on health secondaries, 400 each on action, and max on mind if I remember correctly, after that I put mind to max (1k for powerboost), and made health and action equal and with it like that and a health cost reducing, max damage raising powerup on my damage sliced gaffi I have about equal health and action loss, while very little mind loss, works just perfectly for me

As posted by some others, it depends on the situation which is better to use. In your friends case, that's a very low grade Gaffi stick or it is not sliced. Mine is 297 max damage without a powerup. With footwork IV, the speed is irrelavant, and although the Gaffi has a much higher health ham cost, it's mind cost is still pretty conservative. Stun batons and vibros still have much use though, just depends what you're fighting.

Once I mastered footwork i grabbed a gafii and never looked back. 90% of what i fight does not have any armor so ar1 is not that important to me . With a 35% damage slce my gaffi is 175-299 or something close to that a VB cant touch it. The HAM cost dont matter because I never hunt unbuffed so the health and stam are normally close to 3k since i keep them at 1k base and the gaffi has the advantage of having a very low mind cost
