Thread: Bringing back the top 5

Disclaimer: I am in no way whatsoever trying to replace Raphayl. I just love our profession so much, and there is no use in sulking over our terrible loss any longer. I have no idea how the devs will be given the information gathered here, but it's better than nothing. If there is already a new fencer correspondent in the works, I do not mean to undermine you, just I would like to see some fixes go in to our profession, especially since the combat revamp patch is coming.


To my understanding once in a while a correspondent is supposed to give in the top 5 issues that a profession has to the devs, and hope for the best. Well, we haven't had a top 5 for a long while and I guess I'd really like to see some things fixedas part ofthe combat revamp patch.



#1.) The Speed Cap

Either lower the speed cap to something like 0.5 for fencers, or give us some things that'll help us make better use of our +1-handed speed attribute. For example: a shield that would increase the delay on attacks by something like 0.5;the ever famous dual-wielding of weapons (the way I suggested in the The Future of Fencer: Your thoughts? post);or even something that has high delay but either medium armor piercing or light armor piercing but with gaffi-like damage.


#2.) Armor Piercing and/or Damage Output

To elaborate on the previous point, we need more choices for armor piercing than the vibroblade. I agree that we should be the least damaging melee class (to offset the speed we should have), but we still should have some sort of choice. As suggested, a new weapon should be introduced, most likely withlight armor piercing and decent damage. Again, I would like to say that dual-wielding is an excellent option, to add more coolness to the prof, if nothing else.


#3.) Combat Animations

Plain and simple, moving in any direction should cancel out the combat animations. Certainly these animations are nice to watch, but they more often than not cause trouble. Basically, the act of dodging, scatterhit2, bodyhit3, hit3, and anything else worth mentioninginhibit all linear motion of the character, placing them in bad situations. As stated before, they are fun to watch and should not be taken out, if the situation is under control the user can just make a point to not move when attacking something. However, if the user wishes to move (or continue moving, in the case of the dodge animation) s/he should be able to do so.


#4.) Uniqueness of Specials

Alsobeing straightforward, two of our special attacks are almost exactly the same, and one of them should be changed. This is from personal observation and has not been varified through testing, but apparently dizzyhit2 is the most damaging area attack. So here is my recommended remedy:remove the blindattack from the spinhit2, and just give it the most area damage, something along the lines of 3x more thanboth blindhit2 and dizzyhit2 which will then do the same damage but induce their respective states.


#5.) Appearance of Weapons

This issue to me is a complete oversight. I mean, who on earth thought that we would enjoy using sticks? We have 2 perfectly fine sword models that are totally useless at the moment, so why not just get rid of the sticks. Specifically, remove the gaderiffi baton and give it's attributes & stats to the ryyk blade, and remove the stun baton and give it's attributes & stats to the rantok blade (thus making it craftable). Since they aren't conventional swords they can stil be crafted with the advanced reinforement core, so that it is still used in more than just the power hammer if these changes go into effect.


Well, there's my 5 cents. Umm, if you'd like to post 5 issues of your own, please do. I'll try and tally whatever is given, and I'll see what can be done about submitting it. Let's say that the "deadline" will be Friday, February 13th, at 11:59:59 EST. If no one does post, then I'll heartily assumethat it would besafe to say that these are the top 5 of the community


If this end up being a total bust, then oh well

an Ap weapon would be nice, or, leave the armor without stun lairs, then we have a 100% ignore armor weapon (stun baton)


I love people that thin 80% kinetic composite will "screw-xor the fencor 3lites and tkm b00bs" as put by a rebel, 10 seconds before I attacked him, 20 seconds before he died.


Stun vunerability, is, very nice hehe, I would be perfectly happy if there was no way to defend aginst stun damage.


And yes, im taking into account fighitng aginst it. Sure riflemen will be gods, wait they already 3shot kill me (1k mind)
