Thread: Disgruntled Fencer...

I must say I am not a very happy fencer these days. Perhaps it is my fault for not knowing the ins and outs, but I am constantly getting my butt handed to me. I know, I know, I am a shame to the fencer community but just the other day I decided to go and solo Lord Nyax. Big Mistake. After waiting an hour for everyone to leave I got my chance...solo style. Well the outcome went much better for Mr. Nyax thanme. I was cloning in the nearest center after aboutfour minutes. I could not heal fast enough. Please help me...what am i doing wrong. I am a MF, Iwas fully buffed, all stats. Had 70-80% composite and a 280max gaffi and 195 max stun baton. Also, when taking on another melee prof. (TKM) for example...what defences will carry over when wielding a VK. I have heard that dodge will not work while wielding a non-fencer weapon...is this true? Please help!

Nyax is AR2 I think. Correct me if I'm wrong but if so then you need to be aware that it WILL take you a while to solo him. Consider a Nym (or NS) vibroblade to eat into some of that armour; a 280 max gaffi really isn't anything special.

What concerns me is your statement that you couldn't heal fast enough. He must have been really pounding you and that suggests you aren't avoiding damage that you should be.

Alas Nyax on Ahazi is camped to death so I have never fought him myself but you MIGHT be able to avoid some attacks by eating pikatta pie; I don't know how accurate he would be. Other foods will help you regardless. Brandy etc if he is hitting your mind and synthsteak/that other one[1] to take some of the brunt of his hits. In any case keep that sucker intimidated and don't be afraid to warcry him and peace while you heal yourself up.

Whilst it may be a suck eggs thing you should also check the condition of your comp.

[1] Our guild chef gives his foods funky names. Brandy is "Chocolate Salty Balls Juice" and the other damage reducing food - whose name I can't remember but which Jedi like due to its low filling - is "Quarter Pounders with Cheese Whiz". So called since it's a 25% damage reduction and thus reduces the Pounding you take by a Quarter. Don't ask where the Cheese part comes from. Chef' also makes "Miss Me T'Pie" (pikatta) and "Haul Ass Jalapeño Poppers" with sufficient burst run downtime reduction to Haul Ass five times in a row before getting full. Good stuff. Anyway I'm digressing and the point is I can't remember the real name for these foods because I never use them.

Do you do the general things mentioned here? hit with intimidate, run cob macro, eat pikata, synth steak (a must)and air cake? I will have a go with Mr Nyax to see how i get on, i have not been down there for months and when i was i use tk.

Are your heals of decent power? i use stim e's and can heal for 3k +

Modded clothing...you can buy +25 healing shirts to go under your armor, also have a little stomach room for drugs if things are looking bad, especially moun if your heals are killing your mind.

The only thing that cuts me down in this game now are uber imp npc's....200k+ HAM :/ but thats why we have burst run lol

Like the other two responses, I haven't visited Nyax yet. Well, I have, but it's been camped, so I've never FOUGHT Nyax anyway.

With higher end mobs, I just outlast. Synthsteak, pikatta pie, and I use brandy, sometimes vercupti if I'm out of the other two foods, and keep muon gold around for an emergency. I'm also a doc though, and healstates and use stimEs.

The only mobs that have finised me off were multiple nightsisters when I was on my swoop, and a krayt that I almost had down.

Fencer sucks for PvE, pretty good for PvP if you know what your doing.

I wouldn't go so far as to say fencer sucks for PvE. I would say, however, that high end mobs can take a while to take down, and sometimes require some grouping. But is there anything wrong with grouping? I tank while my commando buddy barbecues it... end of fight.

Well I must admit...my "sequence" isn't really a sequence at all. If I'm lucky I remember to Intimidate and I never use CoB. Is CoB imp during PvE and what does it do? Now with this recent setback (getting pounded) I have decided to take up MFencer and supplement with MSwordsman. Will these defenses stack and is this a good PvE. I don't really do PvP yet...I want to master PvE first. Also, what kind of attachments do you suggest?

CoB is always important, as it increases your defenses, making you a better tank.

COB is a macro you should run at all times pvp or pve....unless its meatlumps lol, then you need all the buffs, food and drink you can get, they have around 200 HAM and are killers!! I tend to group when i hunt them.

High end mobs(such as elders or SBDs) will hit you every single time regardless of what your packing.

You may occasionally dodge or evade with a CoB macro in places like the DWB...but these are very rare and only happens when you are not stunned...which as a tank in the DWB you will be most of the time.
