Thread: Fencer Dabble...Should I?

Hello all,


I am a human master smuggler, and I plan on mastering pistoleer...I am currently 0-2-4-4. My question is this:


After I master the 2 proffesions I have 66 skill points left over. With the 66 skill points I could pick up 3 lines of Fencer. Is it worth it?


Now let me alsoclarify this. I am not trying to dabble to get defense stacking (not to mention it wont work after patch anyways). I honestly like the fencer class. I am just curious if its worth grabbing if I cannot reach master status.


IF SO:


Which 3 lines should I pick up?? And by using my fencer skillz will I be a force to be reckoned with in PVP?


Thank you for your help...my other decision was to grab 2 lines of rifleman...but I want to weigh out all of my options first.

Its all or nothing with fencer.



I would get some rifleman, but if you have smuggler and pistolierre, do you have any Medic? namly firstaid 4?(Atleast FA 2- Cure bleed)


I would consider that, because its absolutly hilarious to bleed someone to death

I have novice medic and use StimB's....but I dont have any cure bleeds or anything of that nature. I really dont run into that problem that much.


I am usually fireing so fast with my pistol and like 3 different people that I would get smoked if I had to stop to cure myself lol. We have a lot of doctors in our guild too and my job is to guard them so I am usually safe.


On the rifleman boards they told me it was all or nothing also...but why is it all or nothing for fencer?? I dont understand. I dont get some final speed and accuracy mods that I would get at master..is that going to be a waste of time? Will I benefit at all??


The reason I originally wanted rifleman as a dabble is so I could attack mind..cause as pistoleer I dont have any mind attacks. So it would be nice to enter the mind damage club. BUT on the flipside I started a character on another server and I am at fencing 3 and I am in love with the class, so thats why I figured I would check to see if it was worth grabbing.


Any other thoughts?

IMHO you really need all of the skills that Fencer offers to be effectiveor you may as well do something else.

Though no one has actually responded to your thread in a constructive way (from what i see) I would ask you a couple of questions before making my recommondation


Are you looking to go up Fencer for an extra bleed/+speed? if so go up to Footwork 3


Are you looking to go up Fencer for added melee/ranged defense? if so go up to Stances&Grips 3


Are you looking to go up a Melee class for the the Damage Mitigation abilities? if so go up to Techniques 3


Fencer is a great class and you may soon find that you like it more than pistols. It is easy to get frustrated with mobs that run away from you but once you get into the Footwork tree (3-4) you really start to notice a turn around point for the profession.


Thats my suggestion i hope it helps.

I see that you all say it's all or nothing, but here's my story, curenntly im a MCM and I and wanting to stay this, now I have done all the range classes and deicided that I want to get into a melee. I decided to go for Fener since everyone and their mom is a TKA these days, plus fencer just looks freakin sweet. Anyways I can only go up 3 block in this... I have going up the 3rd block to help with defenses. and I don't know where lunge 2 falls into it.... can someone help me out here.. I'm thinking in hte direction of 4/0/4/4 to compliment me.. please any help would be greatly appreciated.!!!

Lunge 2, War 2, and Intimidate 2 are all located under master brawler.
