Fencer Archive

I'll try and put it simply because I know next to nothing about melee. Up till now I have mainly dealt with ranged but I want to provide melee weapns that you guys would want so tell me: What in your opinion is more important in a fencing blade, damage and speed or lower hams? Any help would be appreciated.
