Hey I am novice fencer-creature handler, and I have footwork 1. I have been doing a little faction vs faction, and I have to say, I like my guy. I anjoy the lung+dizzy combo, and i like the speed and damage, and the overall toughness of my chr. It's nice to have 4-5 people all focusing on killing me so my friends can take them out.

My only problem is the freaking bounty hunters and some of the tara kasa artests...

I know I am still low on the totem pole, but what I want to know is this... If I max my foot work and get the knockdown defence, then also do the other line and get the dizzy defence... that will be a total of +40 knockdown and +40 dizzy defence. How effective is that against the bounty hunter knockdown or the pistoleer pistolwhip?

I'm not complaining, because basicly the winner of each fight is whoever knocks the other person down first, or whoever has the most faction pets blasting away... I'm just wonderring will I ever have a chance in hell against a bounty hunter one on one, other then jumping him when he's consentrating on someone else?

Do the defences we get out way the effectivness of the ranged attacks? Is it a waste to be a fencer?

I am currently using a sliced Rantok, and I have a uber ryyk in my bag with 2.2 speed, I use this to get my inital attacks in then switch to the rantok... Please let me know your experiences against both bounty hunter and tara kasa artests...

it would be nice if you answered the question if your going to wate your time posting.

I tried a search and there is nothing that comes up with thiese questions. If you have an answer, please post it, if your a dumb a$$ then don't waste my time. The least you could do, if there really is a post about this, is list the url or what you use to search it.

Ranged > Melee always. If the ranged person sees you and is moderately competent, he will kite your ass to death and there's not a **edit** thing you can do about it except run away. there have been posts back and forth about the effective of KD, PD, and dizzy defense, but I honestly haven't seen any real conclusive evidence either way. You will never have a chance in hell against a Bounty Hunter. He's still going to slap you with an Underhanded Shot, toss on a Fire KD, maybe add in an Eye Shot, and a Bleeding Shot...and hell, if he's feeling merciful, he'll shoot you himself a few times just so you don't have to bleed to death.

Against Pistoleers, unless it's a horrific mismatch skill-wise, you're going to die. They have good close-in accuracy, decent moving accuracy, and all they need to do is slap you with a couple KD's in the course of the fight and they'll lay out.

As for TKA's, post patch, it's more than a bit dicy, but you can win if you know what you're doing. Pre-patch, Fencers would probably stand a better chance against TKA's, ironically. Lunge has a slightly greater range than a melee KD and has less recycle time, so you can spam it to hell and back before trying a dizzy or something.

In all PvP, just obey this one maxim, "Attack fast and hard or don't attack at all." You hold back *anything* as a Fencer, you're going to die and die miserably.

Quite frankly, if you're looking just to maximize your PvP effectiveness, don't go Fencer. Hell, don't go with *any* brawling class for that matter. If that's all you're looking for...if you think it's a 'waste' to be a Fencer, don't. Go be yet another BH, yet another former-CH, or, hell, join the ranks of rifleman and slap down the now even more deadly mind bleeds and headshot3's after the mega-patch.
