Thread: armor break vs crit strike

My template only allows for one bar of swords so should i do the armor break or crit strike bars?


I have TKM/master fencer/master brawler/ and the rest in medic which would compliment this template?

I would go with Crit strike, since with that temp you are lacking some really high dmg specials

do you pack down the foods and drugs?


If you are hunting loaded then I'd go with critical strike.


If you are hunting without much for buffs I'd go with Armor Break.


With drugs you'll be able to handle the action burn and key one critical stike after the other. If you were to not be on drugs you'd quickly run out of action using critical stike and end up only using your base attacks anyway. If you use Armor Break you can revert to your base attacks and still be dealing out higher numbers for damage.


Personaly I'm trying to grab as some swordsman so I can get Armor Break. It's getting hard though because I'm Master Heightened Sences (basicly 12 wasted Skill Points I could have used to get 0010 Swordsman from my current template)


I heard on the Swordsman boards that Armor Break is better than advanced Armor Break though... but this was only one person and I have no evidence in either direction. I think Armor Break may add more damage than advanced but Advanced works far more often or something of that manor.

i would drop master brawler and get them both.



master brawler doesn't offer anything particularily useful. crit strike and armor break are much more useful than meleeassault + parry. you will also get some speed /defense mods from the sword trees, so you shouldn't lose out too much there.

They are both really good, as a swordsman I wouldn't want to be without either


Critical hit is x1.8 damage, x2.25 if it crits


On a level 82 rancor, the higher Armor break let me hit it for ~36% more damage.. it sticks very easily,lasts for 30 seconds, and everything you throw at it during this time does more damage. I rate it just behind CoB in importance to use in a fight


I wonder how strong a bleed you could put on stuff if you Armor break, KD, then bleed it?

the only problem I have with armorbreak is that it seems to fail 85% of the time so I end up wasting time I could be doing dmg on AB

also> currently armor break is bugged - the break percentages are reversed in that the 'regular' armor break takes down more defense than improved or advanced armor break.


so really, until that's fixed, just get critical strike and use the brawler armor break.
