Thread: Master Fencer and Weaponsmith question...
Hello all. I'm new to the fencer profession (was a Pistoleer) and definitely new to the Merchant/Weaponsmith professions.
I've decided to become a master fencer, and to make my own swords. Since I'll be making my own swords, I thought it would be kind of cool to sell them to others on a sword-exclusive merchant.
I was looking at the character builder, and came up with this template:
Master Fencer
Master Weaponsmith
Artisan line Engineering (requirement for weaponsmithing)
Artisan line Business (requirement for Merchant)
Merchant line Advertising (so that my merchant shows up on the map)
My question: is there anything else I need? This leaves me with about 32 points left. I'm not interested in being able to change the appearance of my vendor (I'm content with using a terminal as my vendor).
Thanks for any advice you can give (as I have no prior experience with this).
p.s. Curious to hear from others that have gone this (or a similar) route.
I am actually Currently a master fencer and master WS, but I am Dropping WS for a while while I persue my FS... however I think what you are looking at looks great
You are following the path I chose the day SWG went live. I thought it would be cool be a fencer that makes his own weapons. Unfortunately that's not how it worked out.I did manage to make my own swords but I never had any time to use them.
After I started crafting I realized I just didn't want any swords, I wanted the best swords; soI couldn't just be a weaponsmith I needed to be a master weaponsmith. Grind, grind, grind... Three weeks later I'm a master weaponsmith and I'm making goods swords (and lots of other weapons) but they aren't great because my resources aren't great. So I need better resources and lots of them. Now in between stocking my vendor, running my factories and answering hundreds of tells, I'm visiting every planet in the galaxy 2 or 3 times a week to survey andmanage my 15 harvesters.
Now, I'm playing at least 5 hours a day (6 to 8 on weekends), crafting non-stop and doing zero fighting. I did this for 3 months until the pace just got to be too much. I finally realized beinga weaponsmith was a full time job. I had lots of money but no time, so I retired.
Since then I've mastered 6 professions (including fencer) and have been playing at a much more leasurely pace. Fencer is a blast and if I need a weapon I don't have I buy it.
Your mileage may vary.
